What exactly is the cage made out of? In order for it to be adequate it must have very good ventilation - screen or mesh can work as long as it has no rough edges anywhere. You could always purchase one of those screen cages they sell at petstores or build your own. Do not use glass and plexi is...
The cham (if it is a veiled) will not use a heat mat properly. They need to have a basking lamp up above, and using a household bulb in a fixture can be perfect for heating. What are the temps anyways? ie: basking and ambient, and night time temperature.
HAHAHA! NOOOOO it does NOT cover any part of the UVB. If you look closely, you can see that the glass tucks under the very edge of the light fixture (at the right side of the photo) and does not have any way to conflict with the UV rays at all. I could take a photo of the underside if anyone is...
Great design you have there. The hood on top is a fantastic idea, have you measured the spot lamp fixtures? I would listen to what others have mentioned and skip the substrate idea. There is going to be a lot of water in that cage, and that is why I chose to have drainage holes in the bottom...
I am sure that you have already set up your new cage by now, but you asked for more pix of my cham's viv so I will add some :). I just happened to be looking at old posts of mine and realized that I never responded to yours lol.
The front view and dimensions; 30"W x 24"D x 75"H (total height...
the "matter of fact" attitude does not become you.
 i don't believe that you are right in putting a poisonous plant in your chameleon cage. http://www.cookiebabyinc.com/poisonousplants/croton.html
this is a fact sheet about affects on human. just think, it could possibly kill your...
and its ok for them to be in a 'tank' as opposed to a screen cage when they're this tiny. make sure that when you mist that it's the finest setting that you can manage and don't spray them directly, they could drown lol...
do you have pix of them? are you sure that they're veiled? what size is the enclosure they're in? sorry for all the questions, but the more info the easier it is for people to give advice :o.
its great to hear that you rescued them, did the pet store make you pay for them? have you done your...
its great to hear that you are modifying the cham cage so that he can live a long and happy life :) i am guessing that he is a veiled?
one thing to remember when adding live plants it to make sure that it does not have any pesticides on it. take it right out of the planter take all the dirt...
ever wonder if he is actually trying to tell you something? he knows where to get his food alright, and apparently he thinks the whole operation is quite 'shitty'! maybe he doesn't like the choice of feeders and is showing you he thinks they're crap! literally hehe. ok i'll stop with the puns...
airflow is key. its really easy to make your own container, i like this one the best, and great instructions too!!:

a good tip to keeping them alive is cleaning habits and feeding properly. the 10g will work for...
so from what i have read, there are those who love the roaches and there are those who love the other feeders.
i have started breeding my own crickets with success, but i am still trying to get the right number... i had my dixie container of coconut substrate in the cricket container (about...
mczoo, i have a tub like dankmeleon mentioned. its there for my drainage holes anyway, and i have the bottom of the shower curtain set into it for water collection. :)
ya, up until Marley's most recent affections, he has usually been moody and did not like me pestering him for any reason. lol, its good to see that some people have normal chameleons.
i was wondering the same thing when i built my own cage, but i got this great idea that required a clear shower curtain, clear rings, a wooden dowel and 2 silver hooks to place the dowel in. i cut the width but didn't have to cut the length because my cage is 6' tall, and screwed the hooks into...
well, i don't want you all to think that i'm getting frisked regularly by Marley, so i will correct my previous post to say that i will update if changing colors helps or not. LOL
