Yeah I think the multivitamin is use has a very low dosage of B12 it uses too because it doesn't even list it in the percentages just ingredients. So its not really in the active ingredient listing levels.
Hmmm I had been adjusting his supplements lately.
Been doing repetivite calcium plus low D 3 times a week and plain calcium the rest of the time. He has been doing amazing on it for the later... wanna say 6 years of his life until the last two years but maybe he just needs something different...
Lol tegu's and skinks are so easy to pill. Ok I know he gets some b12 in his multi vit but pretty sure from the looks of it thats the only b vit he gets. Thanks for the list so much! He still seems to eat larger feeders easier and those that have more texture like soft bodied worms. So I am...
Hmmm I am guessing vit B would help he is definitely having more issues shedding the last few months! I have some vit B here for myself but I need to see what I type. I think its only B12. Do you think having the full range would be more helpful? Thanks so much as always <3. Just trying to keep...
As we know Neptune is a super old man and these last two years have come with a myriad of age related health issues. He is currently struggling with shooting his tongue and potentially the stickiness of it. He can still shoot it a very short distance. Anyone have any recommendations for...
We will keep him going as long as he is... happy? Its hard to tell with him sometimes perpetual grumpy. But he still enjoys trying to hunt larger flies even if he misses them more than not. Will tolerate handling if it means he can ask outside when its warm enough (he loves the sun so much). And...
Lol yes very much so. He amazes me. He was a rescue i took in from a member here years ago. I actually never was sure he would live past his first few days and then wasn't sure about the next year as we got him rehabilitated with his MBD diagnosis and dehydration issues. The vet is very happy...
Neptune's birthday passed by in oct when I was adjusting to a new schedule so I didn't get on to update you guys. The old man is 13. He is gaining weight right now (he went really skinny for a time as we struggled with his sight issues and finally found the right feeder cup for him) and other...
Omg sorry guys! I just had a massive change with my schedule and have been scrambling to keep up with all my clients! Just logged on again! Thanks all for the birthday wishes, it was a wonderful day. Big 35 now!
I know he is probably in his last year. He is falling more often. Not a lot but enough that senior set up is happening today even in the temporary cage. No real signs of severe arthritis or pain. His grip just isn't quite as a strong. No signs of MBD. So its just... adjusting to being older I...
Not much difference than standard of care than perhaps how I feed and the fact that he gets natural sunlight a minimum of one time a week. He gets a shower once a week now too that started about 1.5 to two years ago. He just needs to tank up occasionally. I dont use foggers at all. Have a really...
I got Neptune as a rescue about... 9ish years ago. So him being marked at 18 months-2 years when I got him makes sense and I know he was an adult and stunted from his original home
Not a typo. He is not much older than I originally though he was at late 9-early 10 years old. He has signs of mild arthritis but nothing bad enough for meds, he has less strength in his grip but no signs of pain. Definitely needs to be set up for his next year or two. He is very very old. It's...
So this will overall be the enclosure thread of the WIP and finished product while I work on Neptune's cage.
But I also wanted to update people with his health. He went to our new exotic vet whom I love a lot (our move has been very successful). We have decided not to move him to his new cage...
There are some research articles Kinyonga found for me that I need to go over (when I'm not in the last week of packing). If I learn anything I will let you know. But if no information presents itself solidly I will follow your advice <3. I make my own dry chow/gutload(well I will be doing so...
Ah thanks so much! Saved me an annoying issue for sure, lol. Will stick with the 6% then for my old man. I am sure he won't complain since arcadia is an upgrade in general from the reptisun (not that is changes too much). He gets cali sun once to twice a week anyway so he lives a spoiled life...
I was actually looking for information for dietary supplements with insects so this is great! Thank you >.< sometimes finding research articles is so hard and you always seem to have them right on hand
He is definitely showing signs of his age. Slowing down, potential signs of arthritis (we are going to the vet with him probably the first few months after we move as long as there isnt an emergency for some reason)
We had a big weight loss episode before i realized he has been losing his sight...
God coming back to the forum to hear this is hard. I looked forward to the little bit of info you shared of both your lives during your holiday cards but also through the forum. I am so so sorry Jann. Take your time. Focus on what makes you happy. Remember he would want you to be happy.
