About a year-old male Veiled chameleon. Will add in cage items and mister etc. Really looking to sale, this is over $400 all together. I'm selling for $150. I'm in Rexburg Idaho, and would rather not deal with shipping all of this. Please PM or text me for more information (2zero8-431-zero780)...
I have been giving a variety of crickets and superworms and mealworms etc. all gutloaded and the works. But Picasso seems pretty lazy and not very active. I decided to try some blue bottle flies to give him another variety and hopefully get him a little more excited about hunting stuff down. Now...
Well, with my Picasso most of it is just show. Though when he is really set on me not cleaning or being in his space, he will bite. The worst part really is the anticipation, but it is a decent pinch. Don't jerk away though or it will be worse. That's been my experience at least.
Here is a great link: https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/psychobunny/746-taming-chameleon.html I find it extremely useful. My guy was really awful and nasty to begin with, but he is getting better, slowly... Patience and love :)
Totally true for me as well. When I was setting up my cage before getting my cham, I had the same problem. I would finally get the humidity up to like 50% and then heat kicks on and I could watch the gauge go down. Sides covered and heat vent redirected, and two live plants later, my humidity is...
It's pretty common for them to stay in hiding for the first day, and then make baby steps of improvement over a week as they familiarize with the new cage. My veiled pretty much didn't come out the first half day. Then the next day he came out, but only when he thought no one was in the room...
From almost all the care sheets I've read a chameleon needs 12 hrs light to 12 hrs dark :s I'm sure they need a lot and it's best to have UVB on the whole time chams are awake, but with the free ranging I'm not sure how to mark enough exposure vs not.
And lovepicasso, yes he is a male veiled...
Hey, So FYI, I had no idea that anyone else had a chameleon named Picasso before this forum. My wife and I actually spent 3 days tossing names around trying to figure out what to name our guy, and when Picasso came up on the boy names list, we both went "yes!"
So anyway, for our Picasso, he is...
I don't fall into the experienced category, but have you been able to check out his mouth? (mouth rot, or infection) Does he have a sore that's making him not excited to eat and possibly causing him to miss?
I'm definitely not an expert, but I would think that if it's only happened once or...
ChuWuti, good for you for taking on this girl. You're doing everything right that you can. The vet is obviously the trump card if it's a good one. This forum is definitely a great place to be too though. In my opinion she does look to have some slight unnatural curves to her arms, but not...
Hey Sandy, welcome to forum. Great place to come! I use a ceramic heat emitter for night time. But it is ok for temps to go down some at night. I use a basking bulb and UVB fixture during day, and the ceramic heater for night. Something else that will really help the forum help you, is pictures...
Thanks. I was hoping that would be the case, my wife and I are going to go get one tonight. Our wax plant just is not growing very fast, and no matter what I do he nibbles a leaf or three every day it seems. I did get a ficus start, but I don't know how long it's going to take to grow into...
So, Picasso has been eating his wax plant, regardless of what other greens I put in his cage. I have bought collards, kale, and tried other fruits, to no avail. He still munches on his wax plant.
I want to get another live plant, and Pothos is at the top of my list. It grows fast, but for...
