nice set up! it looks like you have towels on the bottoms or are they paper towels? how often do you change those? have you noticed your jacksons hanging out more in the dark and wet area?
i also agree with seb! but looks great!
how is your jax doing! :D
Thank you!
For drainage i followed this member's method: https://www.chameleonforums.com/cage-drainage-system-61692/
I drilled the hole in the middle of the plastic piece that comes with reptibreeze, then took a hairdryer to it to warp it (pressed the middle where it was drilled). Kind of...
I read somewhere on here a member that had a cham that ate 29 crickets/day. At that age I believe he should be eating you out of home and wallet. Or however that saying goes :) Congrats on the new baby!
I agree with the not needing lights at the bottom. I was taught about using a heat gradient - basically meaning that you want to let your cham move around and get different temperatures :D
I would try to add a little more foliage toward the top and around his AWESOME branches - let's him hide...
Thank you for the lovely blog entries! Very detailed, easy to understand, and well organized.
I ordered 100 silkies a couple weeks ago, and thought I followed the instructions well, but after a week or so they all died (however many we didn't feed off). I think the next time around, with this...
I think you should get rid of the sprial exo-terra bulb right away and replace it with a tube light. The spiral bulb could be the reason why your cham's eyes are irritated... he could be going blind!
Is the 75 watt providing a good basking temp? If so, it looks like you're good!
I feel like I'm a cheerleader on this forum. All I can do to contribute is post things like "Yay!" and "Congrats!" and "Beautiful (colors)". I'm now going to try hard to regurgitate all that I've learned from spending hours upon hours on this awesome forum.
And cool picture of Reptar Seb! :p
I don't know that the color really matters as much as the basking temperature you are able to sustain. I'm assuming the fluoro's you're talking about are UVB lights in which case for a 4 foot tall cage, I think you can just use a regular heat lamp.
I'm concerned about his eyes however, do you...
I also agree. We just adopted Leon, a Jacksons Xanth, and he's doing great! I think being on here hours a day and doing the reading and research is extremely important but also makes you extremely paranoid haha. Anyway, his temps and humidity were two things we really kept an eye on for his...
