Ditto dodolah, Most of mine will head to their sleeping spot about an hour before sundown, remain awake at their spot and then go to sleep after sundown. I also follow natural sunlight. If you've just had him a week, he may not be used to the time difference yet.

I also think it would be safe if they can digest them. The reason they are so popular in the south is because they are very tough and you can catch several fish on a single worm. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try and see if it comes out whole or digested. Thanks for the input. David

I was wondering the same thing as I also have a Catalpa tree. Having used them for fishing in the past I would say no just because of how tough they are. You can catch several fish on a single worm. Their skin is like leather. I don't know if they are safe or poisionous if they could eat them.

Would like to hear from anyone using 1/4 or 1/8" mesh for their cage. Having a difficult time finding what I really want so I may have to go with the larger size. If your using 1/4, how is it working out as far as feeders go? Thanks for any input. David

Wouldn't the feeders get stuck between the inner and outer screens? Maybe I'm not understanding what you have in mind? I've found the perfect stuff at several sources online but it would cost at least $150 per cage just for the screen. Got to be another source for something similiar at a...

It's epoxy powder coat fininshed metal. If I'm reading it correctly anyway. They have all types. I imagine this is so expensive because of the coating, it's sprayed on as a powder and then baked to form a porcelin type finish.
