I was in the same place as you about 4 months ago. I wouldn't recommend starting a colony for one chameleon. I have one adult veiled and I started my colony with 20 mated pairs in late October. I know have close to 400 roaches and there numbers are multiplying rapidly. ABDragons sells 100 medium...
For over a month I have been trying to get him to eat dubias since he gave up on crickets and he never even looked at them. I starved him on and off and finally he ate his first roach today! I only hope he keeps eating them now. I never thought he was going to eat one.
I flipped the roach...
It is hard to tell from the picture but around his mouth is white and between his eyes as well. The spots on his upper casque IS dead skin from a previous shed cycle. Also his spikes on his back and chin are turning white.

I tried introducing the roaches while the hunger strike was full force so hes never cared for them. And im not sure if hes wc or not. I got him from a local pet store who had a very nive steup for their chams but that doesnt mean much really. A vet visit is due anyway, ill have him tested.
I use gallon jugs of purified water from the store. I have a well at my house but it is not very clean water so I don't take the risk. I think reptisafe, or something like that, would be a safe bet if you are using well water just as a precaution but I'm no expert!
Alright, I'll hold off on the flies, I have a colony of roaches that I was planning to switch too before he became stubborn. So I can just do the same thing with the roaches right?
I had the same problem in September. I had a neighbor take care of mine who had no knowledge of chams. I showed him what to do in depth and also left a care sheet in the room with all the supplies laid out. I was gone for ten days. Not sure if that is an option for you though. I live in North...
Yes I did. For When he first started to refuse crickets all I had at the time was superworms so for about a week or so that's all he wanted/ate. For a while, the second he saw a superworm it would be gone but them he seemed to lose some interest in them but I haven't fed them in a while. I've...
haha okay, thank you! I think its too cold here for the bugs to be out but once summer gets here I'll be running around like a fool catching dragon flies
There are tons of insects in the wild where I live and I always thought it was a bad idea to catch them but I see people on the forums doing it. Is that a bad idea to try? I see hornworms every other day and grasshoppers and grubs, in the summer anyway. And where could I buy some moths or...
Thanks for all the replies! I just got home. As far as the dehydration goes, I see him drink a lot and his urate is white but his casque has had some old dead skin hanging on from a previous shed for I'd say a few weeks now. I'm glad he looks to be healthy, that was my main concern. It still...

I have 30 (ish) medium silkworms from coastal silkworms that I bought a week ago, unfortunately my chameleon is refusing to eat just about everything and the worms are running low on food.
I do not have heat packs. Just pay the shipping and they're yours. email me at [email protected], I'll...
