How long does she usually take to lay her eggs? I mean from the time she first shows the yellow bars and spots to actually laying them. Because it has been 4 days and she hangs out at the bottom a lot but hasnt stepped foot in the lay bin. I guess I am over worried.
Past few days my female veiled has been looking like this. She still eats and everything and I do have a lay bin full of play sand in with her. She does go down to bottom a lot but doesn't really bother with the bin. Is she gravid? I am just worried about her because she has never looked like...

First I would like to offer my condolences for you. Next, I realize you are upset but it sort of sounded as if you are scaring others into getting a chameleon. It's no secret that they do die but that happens with any pet you get. It is sad when this happens, yes, but it's no secret.

Here is my supplement schedule:
Every day- Phosphorous free calcium without D3
Every other week- Reptivite Multivitamins with D3
This works for me and is really simple. It's really easy to overdose a chameleon with D3. Hope this helps.:)
They pupate after the 5th instar. Normally for hornworms, I have seen this after in excess of 4 inches and if you keep them warm(85-90)they will grow to this size within 7 to 10 days.
Some species of chameleons will eat the leaves. I know my female veiled nibbles on my pothos and schefflera arboricola plants. This is where if fertilizers were used the chameleon would also ingest them. Wouldn't be a good thing.
Home Depot, Wal-Mart both carry organic soil. Also you should remove the plant from the soil completely then wash the roots off so they are clean and white. Then replant.
