dark splotches and not going to bathroom

When my panther got a burn on her spine- it looked just like that. The vet prescribed Silver Sulfadiazine - it is an ointment I rubbed on often. The burn healed- but left a scar. I hope that helps. Good luck!

    Burns?

When my panther got burned- it looked like a bruise for a while- but I took her to the vet and it was a burn- which got worse before it got better. As it heals- the scab pulls away from the skin and looks real irritated. The vet gave me Silver Sulfadiazine to put on often. She had a scar that...

    Perished Chameleon Owner

I made the mistake of buying a captive breed senegal cham as my first without doing as much research as I should have. I learned so much information from this website. Mine was only with me for 6 months, as it had parasites. So sad! If these strange creatures bring you joy- I encourage you...

    Repticon questions!

It would have been fun to buy some new feeders at the show- if only I wasn't chameleon less. They had all kinds of worms and roaches that I have not been able to find in the stores here in Raleigh.

when should i worry/go to the vet

I am so sorry for your loss. I experienced almost the exact same thing about two weeks ago. They say that chams are really good at hiding their illness until it is too late to help them, a defense mechanism. Only time can heal your sadness. Sorry about your cham. I had a vet student do a...

    Repticon questions!

I went to Repticon today in Raleigh, NC. It was a lot of fun, but not a place I would buy my next cham from. I was looking for a booth that was all about chameleons- but there was not one. The ones that were there were a great price- but I didn't care for the people selling them. This one...

I just bought tickets for repticon this weekend. Is this a god place to buy a chameleon? I just lost Bruna almost a week ago, and was going to wait a while before trying again- but maybe this is fate to buy now?????? If not repticon- then where is the best place to buy a panther? Bruna was a...

    Bruna's Necropsy report ??????

Thanks for the reply! There wasn't any substrate she could have eaten, I have a large potted plant- but in a year and a half, I never saw her eat the dirt or the plants. I guess I should have done more test to find out exactly what it was- too late now. Would dehydration cause the intestine...

    Bruna's Necropsy report ??????

Bruna- 1.5 yr old Panther, died on Tuesday. :( The vet said she was impacted with a material that looked like coconut fiber that was throughout her GI track, and that the walls of her intestines were thickened. She thought some possible answers were parasites, a viral infection or a tumor. I...

    Goodbye Sweet Bruna

Bruna was a female panther chameleon that was with me for only a year and a half. I am not sure exactly what took her away from me, except that she was impacted with eggs or fecal matter, or possible some sort of tumor. The vet is doing an necropsy tomorrow to give me answers. I am so heart...
