I also use the rep-cal pellets with occasional Fluker's freeze dried crickets thrown in. This has been the staple of my 8 year old beardie on days I work. On my days off he gets the fresh veggie mix and some live crickets dusted once a week in calcium with D3. When he was younger it was...
My first was a female Senegal who lived in a ficus in my living room. Lost her when she became egg bound late at night. Was a hard experience to go through.
I think the misconception that new members are new to the hobby needs to be eleviated. I may be new to this forum but I have been in this 'hobby' for many years, going as far back as discussing reptile husbandry with Dick Bartlett on the Compuserve forums in the 80's on my Commodore 64. There...
They have a bad valve on them. I attached a second valve (airline valve for fish tank). I leave the dripper valve fully open and have the airline valve adjusted for a perfect drip. The dripper now empties out at the same rate until it is empty.
I put my 3 month in the same size cage. I put feeders in a cup at the bottom of the cage which he found the first day, no problem. Now, every morning he sits on the branch where the cup should be and waits for me to feed him. I prefer the cup because I know exactly how much he is eating...
So the girls decided on Smeagal for a name. Hmmmm. He/She is doing well. For the first week I kept his crickets in a deli cup at the bottom of the cage and he would go down every morning for breakfast. Last night I took the cup out and this morning he was waiting on the branch where the cup...
I never use the shed ease, even on my snakes, unless they have a really bad shed. Let her shed naturally and just keep an eye on her to make sure she gets the skin off. I would leave the dripper in. While some chameleons never use them it still is providing water on the leaves which she may...
Did you try gently nudging him from the bottom to encourage him to climb. It looks like he has room to go forward to get free. The wood lattice is going to have to go, it is creating the trap with the angle it is set to the screen.
I just received my Mistking starter set yesterday. For those of you with this system, what is the best place to position the nozzle? I haven't seen the output of the single nozzle so I'm not sure where to position for the best coverage.
Wow, great job in doing research and making your decision! I wish everyone would do the same as you. Most people buy a reptile in a pet store and then start looking into how to take care of it. Enjoy your dragon!
That is about what they run. I figured by the time I got creative and figured out how to modify a stand with drainage I would wind up spending the same amount or more. This took all of 10 minutes to set up so it was worth it, and it works!
I used a plastic laundry tub from home depot. I use it as a planter and have the drain go to a bucket underneath. My wife is going to make a skirt for it to hide the tub and bucket.
Frequent misting is your best bet and then save up for an automatic misting system. I would be wary of using a heat pad since they are not made for that application and are really nothing more than a wire being heated up by electricity. Even outside the enclosure a leak can possibly happen...
I have never seen a Petsmart or Petco properly house Chams. It's always amazing that they sell the literature on how to properly care for them but the store policy obviously isn't to follow it. They don't want to hear about it either when you engage the managers on it. You can't save all the...
