    Phoenix worms?

Oh, I also run a humidifier at night. I have tried every kind of container to get her to cup feed, but no luck. The only way I have gotten her to eat since she moved into her new cage is to take her out, and put her in a smaller container with the food. I did this twice with success. The...

    Phoenix worms?

Prettyinink87, I appreciate you trying to be helpful. I am aware of the information you have pointed out. At this point I am mainly focused on having her eat at all. Her lights go on at 7-7:30 am, and off at 8:00 pm. I am not overly concerned about her eating at night, since when she is...

    Experiment

judging by what they look like, the process described online, and what affordable exotics just said.... I really think they might be cacooned. Nothing to lose, so will leave them the way I have them and see what happens. I wonder how different the process is for the reptiworms to turn into...

    Experiment

I am trying something..... I took the waxworm container out of the fridge to check on them. I had two that are brown (not black) and they are kind of hard. So, I took a small plastic bowl, put some oatmeal and wheat germ in the bottom, mixed a dollop of honey in one section, then added two...

    Phoenix worms?

I just received my first order of worms yesterday. I mostly got them to try to entice my 2-3 month old female to eat. I have had her about a month or so, and as I have posted on other threads, I am having a heck of a time getting her to eat regularly. I rigged up a clay flower pot saucer...

    Yay! Some progress

Yes, she is a fickle little beast, that tries my patience.... but I love her anyway :D I stole the name "Stitch" from something I was watching on tv. It was a show about people and their pets, and a woman with tons of money who lived in New York City had a dog named Stitch. The dog and woman...

    Yay! Some progress

So I decided to put a second feeder container in Stitch's new cage. She hasn't been going near the other one with crickets in it. So, I put a second container in and then put two wax worms in it. Then I decided to take her and place her on the vine directly above this container. She...

    OMG.... she ate!

Her basking temp is about 90.... I am going to raise the lamp a little tomorrow to get it to more like 85ish. I would much rather free-range the crickets. It means trouble-shooting the new cage and trying to find out where the darn things are getting out

    OMG.... she ate!

The cage is: 4.5 feet high x 3 feet wide x 2 feet deep. I have tried a deep container, then a more shallow container.... have tried it in several spots including where she had been hanging out.... she watches them, but then doesn't go after them, or she ends up looking through the bottom or...

    OMG.... she ate!

she has a heat lamp for basking at the top of the cage, but it is a very large cage so it doesn't heat the whole cage :)

    OMG.... she ate!

Ok, because Stitch wasn't eating in her new screen cage I had been worried that it wasn't warm enough for her. Temps in lower part of cage were only low 70's. So, I decided to take her out so I could wrap part of the cage with plastic. Before I put her in a temp container, I put two waxworms...

    Update on Stitch

Ummmm....... Looks like the free range thing is out for now. I went up to put more in for her to find them better...... they found a way to escape the cage. Now I have free ranging crickets in my bedroom :) Good thing I am not squeamish! So, instead I moved the container and there are now...

    Update on Stitch

Thanks Hoj and Laurie, I appreciate the suggestions. That is what we were thinking of doing, wrapping 1/2 to 3/4 of the cage. I am also toying with the idea of buying a humidifier. She is in my bedroom, and I run a fan at night for the noise so I can sleep. Although it doesn't lower the temp...

    Update on Stitch

So, I had another thread called "Soooo frustrated" which describes my situation with Stitch. I just was checking on her and she is up at the very top branch in her cage, as close to the basking lamp as she can get.... So, now I am wondering if the problem with her not eating had been a...

Loss of appetite, need some help!

Wow, Carol5208 where do you get your crickets from at that price? I just recv'd my first shipment of 500 and it cost me $26

    Soooo Frustrated!

So I picked up a pretty huge banana tree today to put in her cage a little later tonight. A good sign is that she came off the plant she had been hiding in, and did a bit more exploring. Hoj, thanks for the tip with the crickets..... you should have seen the way I did it.... large tweezers &...

    Soooo Frustrated!

Very weird...... I posted last night and included a couple of pics to show that I added a lot more vines across the middle and leading up to the top of the cage..... but it's not on here??? Anyway, I guess you are right. I don't really mess with her, other than trying to get things to where she...

    Soooo Frustrated!

Thanks for the suggestions about the cage. I am planning on getting more big plants.... just haven't had a chance and she just moved in there yesterday. She actually isn't too far off from the 6" from the basking light if she went to that top branch. I can't get it too close to the top of the...

    Soooo Frustrated!

Grrrr!!!! Pics added Okay, so if I can figure it out I am going to post pics of Stitch's new cage that she moved into yesterday... Same issue I was having before, but now in new cage. I can't figure out the best way to get her to eat. In the pics you can see the deli container that I put...

    Soooo Frustrated!

Thanks for the idea with the veggies. As far as her seeing the bowl I was using from above, she can. Her vine is above it, and at one point she was perched above the bowl. I think I am going to switch containers though. The bowl takes up too much of the limited space I have. I have an empty...
