I just came from a Vet and he stated that Chameleons try their very best to hide ailments. My Nosey be had burns on his back but I never noticed them until he slept and relaxed. Now they got so bad he cant camo the burn anymore. He told me they have this instinct (hiding the fact that they are...
Okay so the diagnosis was thermal burns that has become infected.
He stated that Spartan looked great well hydrated, well nourished, very strong and very active. So no other tests were recommended.
I was given antibiotics for the infection (Baytril Oral (injected into worms).

So I will be taking Spartan to see the famous Dr. Rosskopf, DVM at the Avian & Exotic Vet clinic in Hawthorne, Ca. I have done research and this Doc is good, his main specialty is avian but has authored many books and taught herpetology all over the world. I am kinda excited to have Spartan...

Local pick up only.
I doubt the snake died due to silicone poisoning, I believe if the snake would have ruptured the silicon sac in her breast, she would have needed more then just a tetanus shot.
Funny vid tho!
Okay, he seems to be eating and pooping normally, basking light is a exoterra basking bulb in a dome about 6 inches above his basking area, I have a thermometer there and it reads between 85 and 90 degrees. Unfortunately I can not find a herp vet in my area, the only thing I found was an Avian...
I just took a pic and its completely gone, I dont get it. I would really appreciate any help with this. I will be taking him to the vet on monday but I am afraid he wont be showing that black mark when the vet sees him.
Could be a burn, but during the day the black spot is gone. Cant be a bite because I have no other chameleons. I really thought this might be something common and someone would have seen this before, now I am really worried. I guess I will take him to the vet on Monday.
For the last week, every time Spartan sleeps I have noticed this big black spot on his back, during the day its the size of a small mole but at night it gets huge.
Here are a few pics, anyone know what this might, does this warrant a vet visit?
