Since we stopped spraying him, he runs directly to the leaves we spray and drinks readily. He suns himself more now; I think spraying him directly was stressing him out.
I was just cleaning the cage. The bleach and water is what I did; however, the cage was extremely heavy for me to lift and wash out. Any solutions for this? ;)
I've seen so many beautiful chams with striking multicolors, but my Hoehnelli just changed a very pale pink in small spots while remaining mostly green, or brown.
Even when I have him out, he remains such drab colors. Is he moody, or is that just his species because they're from Kenya?
I tried to research what was safe for cleaning and sanitizing a cage, and can't find many answers other than what is NOT safe.
What about "Natural" all-purpose cleaner? like Green Works?
My fiance has been using a pine-sol solution, and I JUST found out it was toxic to reptiles D:
He...
We tried a dripper at first, but he didn't drink from it. Most of the water was wasted. He readily drinks off the leaves when he's sure I'm gone. If I don't have a cricket in my fingers, he runs when I open his terrarium.
I wasn't spraying the plant directly, I was pointing it down towards...
My Hoehnelli HATES water. I've tried to just spray his mouth lately, but he hisses and runs from it, even if it is warm.
It may have been because I was rehydrating him a long time ago, with the steam method, and he fell off the plant he was on into hot water... :x
I'm not sure if he was...
They're larger stones, like a polished looking brown color. It's hidden under the moss, and we're buying more moss anyway. Our main concern now is how to mist, and mold appearance. We also need to buy more foliage, as it's quite bare atm.
We bought that terrarium you showed, put a smooth rock gravel on the bottom, then beaker moss as a substrate, as I heard chameleons can accidentally swallow bits of wood.
We bought a UV light as well, and the enclosure is 18x18x24.
We had a tiny mishap: He fell when my fiance was coaxing...
Right now he's back in the glass/screen terrarium with bare glass on the bottom for now.
When we go to the pet store later, we will be complaining to the manager about the employee who sold us this stuff, saying it was best for the chameleon.
I guess that will teach me to believe...
Okay, so remove the carpet thing. My closest pet store is pet supplies plus, and I don't remember them having screen reptile cages. I'll have to check again, and if not, I'll have to go to Niles OH and see if they have anything that remotely resembles a screen cage, which would be better for our...
Where can I get one of those? I noticed my so-called "reptile" glass/screen tank doesn't have ventilation on it. I said it was for reptiles, now I'm starting to think I'm buying cheap stuff from a cheap source.
I don't believe it was wild caught. We aren't using UV lighting, is that a night or day-time UV you're talking about? We use neither. What sort of substrate should I use in order to PLANT lice plants?
We have been dusting all our crickets with the reptalife, I'm supposing we should stop...
We're not sure which species of Helmeted it is. At the pet store, it was called: "Helmeted Chameleon."
Also, I don't appreciate being called a troll. I came to ask for advice before my pet passes away from my negligence. Thanks.
Here is a link to what he looks like...
We have a helmeted chameleon, about 4-5 in from snout to vent.
Sometimes the eyes appear sunken in, and lately the skin has been wrinkled.
Neither I or my fiance have had experience with reptiles before, and we're a bit lost on what to do.
The terrarium is 5 gallons, with a screen top...
