I wanted to come by to introduce my new boy, Duncan. He’s 4 months old and much more skittish than my old girl Claudia ever was.
I just wanted to quickly ask if anyone had any tips or tricks to get him to hand feed? I like to give the occasional horn worm as a snack and really only ever hand...
Since I've replaced Claudia's ficus tree with her laying bin in her cage, I've decided to use the focus as a free range tree for her. I think she missed it. She's so content up there in the leaves :)
Well, I went for it and I am happy to say that I have successfully bred hornworms/hawk months!
I started with a typical hornworm pod and when my cham decided to stop eating for a week - a week where it was in the 90s here - I had all of these hornworms growing and nothing to do with them. So...
I feel like this is a notable milestone for me and Claudia. I've been trying since the day I got her to drink from either a dropper or a syringe. She's such a shy drinker that I can probably count on one hand how many times I've actually witnessed her drinking (something that freaked me out to...
I'm in the process of changing Claudia's cage to allow the big laying bin to stay at the bottom of the cage at all times now that she's reached egg laying age. This means that the potted ficus I have had in there for the last few months had to come out. I'm now using it as a free range plant for...
I was able to get a vet appointment this afternoon to have Claudia looked at. Her eating has stopped almost entirely and I was really getting worried. They looked her over, checked her weight (96g), listened to her breathing, looked for mouth rot, did a fecal check and determined that there was...
It's a beautiful day here in Cleveland (a rarity LOL), so I took Claudia out for some natural basking time. For the first time since I got her, she really seemed to enjoy herself! She wouldn't stay still on her hibiscus though, and preferred to walk around on the grass, which I happily allowed...
What does everyone think of this product?
I love the idea of it, the thought of always having something right there at all times for my girl and eliminating the stress of moving her to a full laying cage (which is already set up for her), or possibly missing the signs with just the test bin...
I am so sorry for making another post. Claudia has been giving me a heck of a time as a Cham owner the last few days. First, she slowed down her eating considerably. She still eats, just not nearly as much as she was and she's sworn off crickets entirely. She still goes to town on hornworms and...
I went and picked up a food scale at Walmart this afternoon to start weekly weigh-ins for Claudia.
A little extra info before today's weight in numbers. The last time she was weighed was about two months ago at the vet, where she was just about 50g.
I had some trouble getting her to stay...
Well, it seems that Claudia has finally tired of her daily dose of crickets. They were her staple food since I got her in June and suddenly, about two days ago, she really wasn't too thrilled with eating them. She had some, but not all (and she usually inhales them), and has really wanted little...
Went to Claudia's cage this morning and opened it up to adjust one of the mister's nozzles and she climbed right out onto my hand to hang out. I had her climbing around on my bed for a bit and decided it was the perfect chance for a photo op. Not sure she was very fond of my phone in her face...
I forgot that I took a picture of Claudia eating a hornworm this morning. Not the best pictures, and I was too slow/she was too fast for me to get her actually grabbing it. Also, her butt is shedding, don't look ;) (you can also see some of the blue I mentioned in this post).
For the first time today I noticed that Claudia was displaying the "mustard spots" and the bluish tint that would indicate a receptive female veiled. I didn't get a picture yet and she's sleeping now, but I'll try to get one tomorrow to verify that's what it is. But how long between being...
Alright, so I finally bit the bullet and decided to buy crickets in bulk. I was getting tired of constantly going to the pet store. The crickets will be here on Wednesday, and my question is pretty simple...
What size container should I get for them? I'm going to the store tomorrow to prepare...
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Female veiled, between 5-7 months old. She's been in my care for two months.
Handling - Once a week at most.
Feeding - Between 7-10 medium sized crickets gut loaded with cricket crack. She eats every morning at around 10am. When I have hornworms (which I do not...
Hi guys,
So I've been trying to get Claudia to enjoy being outside most of the summer. I take her out maybe once a week for a few minutes at a time. My goal was to gradually get her used to being out there. We have nice bushes for her to perch on and everything.
But... she hates it...
I got Claudia just about two months ago now and everything I read mentioned that occasionally, a cricket will break free and you'll find it roaming around. I was proud that I hadn't yet had this happen.
Until today.
I was sitting here working, minding my business and all of a sudden...
I doubt anyone cares, but it feels like a big milestone for me with Claudia. I was just in her cage doing my daily spot cleaning of the cage and suddenly, while my head was part way in the cage, I feel something tickle my head. It took me a second to realize that Claudia had come out and perched...
