So I will be taking Spartan to see the famous Dr. Rosskopf, DVM at the Avian & Exotic Vet clinic in Hawthorne, Ca. I have done research and this Doc is good, his main specialty is avian but has authored many books and taught herpetology all over the world. I am kinda excited to have Spartan...
For the last week, every time Spartan sleeps I have noticed this big black spot on his back, during the day its the size of a small mole but at night it gets huge.
Here are a few pics, anyone know what this might, does this warrant a vet visit?
Due to unforeseen circumstances I will have to let go my beloved spartan:(. Let my misfortune be an opportunity for a good deal for you.
Healthy and beautiful year and a half male Nosy be. He comes with a cage, plants, vines, Mistking, bucket, critter 5g tank, 12" Tweezers, duster cup, plant...
I have had my mistking setup for a week and I just noticed that I haven't seen any water droplets or anything for a few days and my plants are all dried up.
So I went to manually turn on my mistking and nothing came out, so I started taking everything apart and it looks like my nozzle is...
Buy a Chameleon!
I know I have said this before but I have owned many animals, and I know I have never had an animal stress me out so much as my chameleon does. I know they change colors, but this guy is making my hair change color too...TO GRAY HAIR!.....
Am I alone here in thinking...
I heard from a friend that he sanitizes his enclosure every two weeks. He said he takes vinegar or bleach to the cage and hoses off plants and vines in the backyard.
Is this really necessary? I have gone through a lot of threads on this site and have never came across this.
I have had my cham for a little under a week and 2 out of the 5 days he has slept like this below, Is this ok?
I tried to pull him off the first time I seen this and I seem to have woke him up and he got real defensive, so this time I left him alone.
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic
I have an option of Pet Insurance Coverage through my work and I just called and reptiles are covered. I was told it would not cover routine check ups, only emergencies and illness.
I think I am gonna get it for my cham.
Anyone have this?
I thought I would make a journal of my male Nosey Be Panther Spartan. I thought this way would be better instead of making new threads every 5 minutes when I had a question, oh and BTW this is by far this is the best forum I have been a part of, and I have many hobbies. Questions are always...
Should I be worried or is this normal for an acclimating panther?
Is there anything I could do to entice him to eat?
I free ranged 10 crickets 2 days ago and there are still 9 left.
He also seems to open his mouth alot and sometimes it seems like he is yawning, is this a bad sign.
TIA!!
Spartans enclosure is in my boys room, and there is alot of traffic in that room, along with that my kids love their PlayStation 3 and their blu ray movies, and they like to play and watch movies at high volumes.
I was wondering if the noise and traffic will effect my Panther?
OK here is my cage, it's aluminum screen with one large vine and a small vine, a ficus plant. What else would be nice for spartan to have decorwise?
It came with a dome light with a 60w blue light and a 30" fixture with a repti sun 5.0 UVB.
and a little dripper.
The 60w doesn't seem...
I dripped several times today and he didn't drink. Now all of a sudden he is like gorging himself with water.
Is this bad?
Or is he just really really thirsty?
Kinda worried:(
Besides this new hobby, I also have a 60g saltwater reef aquarium. and I have a RO/DI (reverse osmosis/dionization) filter system.
I am wondering if RO water would be OK to give a chameleon. I know the DI portion would just be way too clean and contains no minerals at all that animals need...
I wanted to get my kids something special for Christmas since I asked them what they wanted and they said they arent in need of anything and were happy with what they have. That really warmed my heart. So I thought I would give them a new pet, so I went with this beautiful little guy. But I...
