I have noticed lately my cham spends a lot of time under the UVB light instead of the basking spot. So my question is can they tell the difference betweeen UVB and UVA light?
I went to pick up a new UVB bulb today at Petsmart and the lady at the checkout asked what I was using it for and I said I had a veiled chameleon. Well we started talking and they had a baby veiled for sale. I have read on here that the big pet stores across the country do a terrible job of...
My cham rarely eats any sort of worm. She doesn't hand feed (trust me, I have tried too many times to count) Should I be concerned she only eats crickets and some beetles I throw in her cage if I find one out in the backyard (I live in a place free of pesticides) Should I just keep a cup in her...
She is very stressed out and adjusting to her new setup. There is much more foliage and hiding places. Is there anyway to help her adjust to it? I don't want her stressed out.
Just a random question I have been thinking about. What is better, being a little too hot or a little too cold? This question is just out of curiosity.
My female veiled is around 6 months now. She is almost always very dark and at the top of her cage basking. Should I boost the temps up a bit? Her basking spot is around 80 degrees right now. I know female veileds should be kept at lower temps than males.
I was away this weekend and got my parents to take care of my cham. She shedded while I was gone and all the leaves are covered with dead skin. It won't come off. Will it eventually just decay or do I have to do something else?
Thanks
In about a year I will moving away to college. I thought I was going to be living in an apartment but I recently got news that I might go to a different college and play football there which would require me living in a dorm. What do I do with my cham? Should I give her to a trustworthy friend...
I have had my veiled for about 3 months now and she is great. Now I want more of course. So I have a few questions about pygmies. Glass or mesh enclosure? Does the enclosure have to be tall like a regular cham or can it be a just a regular aquarium?
I am looking for another pet :) but I don't know what I want. I have experience with reptiles and amphibians but I only have a veiled cham right now. I prefer arboreal creatures for some reason. I just don't know what to get! I was thinking a red eyed tree from or a salamander of some sort...
Next year I am going to be a senior. I will be attending Louisiana State University after that. I love all animals especially reptiles and amphibians in particular chameleons. I will probably major in pre veterinary medicine. Anyone on this board a vet? I would love to know some things about it...
I live in south Louisiana and it is very humid here. It has been raining pretty much this entire week. My question is well my female veiled suffer from too much humidity? I have not been spraying the enclosure as much lately because it is just so humid over here. Her urates are fine. They are...
I have had my female veiled, Stella, for about a month now and she is doing great. I know pretty much all the basics of chameleon keeping. Now the question is what to get next. I am fascinated by carpets, and i like smaller chams. So they are on the top of my list. I also love Nosy Be's because...
My female veiled Stella seems to bask a lot. She is at the top of her cage for about 6 or 7 hours a day. The only time she goes to the bottom is to eat, drink, and sleep. Is this normal?
