    RO Water Remineralization

I have been using a new RO Water system for the last month. The system I purchased came with a remineralization cartridge but I never installed it. Recently I saw some information indicating that RO Water is not appropriate for chameleons without remineralization. Should I install the...

...water vapor, it means texhnically almost distilled water. Second, the minerals will cause stain on plants and equipment of the cage, glass etc. So, best is to use demineralized water, RO water or human grade distilled water, as it is the most natural form and does not leave stain (so much)…

...to make about 20+ gallons at once. I did replace my first one, which did 50g/day with one that does 100g/day and it’s a huge time saver. You don’t have to use RO water. Some use regular drinking water filters, like Brita, Pur, Zero Water, etc. The pitchers seem like they would be pretty...

    Water

You don’t need to hook up an RO system to a water line, you can get a faucet add on to just screw it on and then remove when you’re done.

Wow, the cost of the filters must have added up on that! They make a faucet adapter for the 1/4 in line needed for the RO unit. The RO membrane needs to be replace every couple years and the pre fillers every 3-6 months depending on how much you use it. Definitely save money pretty quickly.

...However if you are not able to hook one up which was the issue I ran into because I rented so the landlord would not allow it, I used the Zero water filter system. Can be tedious though and the filter must be changed out monthly or it will smell like fish. With one chameleon this method was...

    Water

Well, that's one advantage of one of the off-the-shelf RO systems instead of doing DYI. You don't need a degree in water engineering and all the equipment fits neatly out of sight under a kitchen counter. All you'd see is the secondary faucet on the counter. Be aware you'll probably need to...

    Jumping back in!

Sounds like a plan. I used to have an rodi unit hooked to the water line when I was a kid for my nano reef. Just never had the float valve set up. A big autofilling rodi reservoir would be perfect for my list of enclosures I have planned.

    Jumping back in!

That’s the perfect set up I always had my RO collection reservoir in basement with a drain that I ran the overflow to a floor drain for any over flow RO units don’t make water very quickly so massive floods shouldn’t be a huge concern if all the parts are working

...issue simpler, I started installing small capacity (a gallon or two) RO filtration system under the kitchen sink in each of my houses. The RO water went primarily for the pets, but there was more than enough for primary drinking water and cooking too. Hard to predict how long a set of filter...

New cham owner. Sometimes she blows a little liquid out of her nose. (?)

Kinyonga asked if the fluid is white in color. Snalt, as it's called here, is basically a result of using hard tap water in your misting regimen. Chameleons will expel the extra minerals from the water through their little nose holes. I believe it's fairly harmless, but if this is the case, it...

i ised all kinds of wayer. tap water, RO and distulled one. Therebis ni reason you would have a harmful ammount of pathogens in the water and even if, they will be killed by the piezoelectric action. Then the fog does not contain them basically. some airborne pathogens circulate everywhere and...

I'll definitely have to see about setting an RO filtration up. I don't think my water is awful hard, but all I can find to purchase is usually purified water (and it's always minerals for taste which IDK how terrible it is compared to well water) Thank you for the information, @JBissell For what...

If you’re using a misting system, most do better with RO water. You won’t have the mineral build up that clogs the nozzles. I would get a good one that’s easy to maintain. The cheap ones tend to be more expensive in the long run. Something like this...

    RO Water Remineralization

The only need for RO/distilled water is if you have a misting or fogging system. You will get everything covered with white powder etc, and clog up your system (and need to bacteria clean) if you dont use distilled etc. The remineralization cartridge is a "flavor enhancer". Its not for making...

...room temperature? And does it matter what type of water? I can really only reliably grab "purified water", while most people here recommend RO water or distilled water for their misters. Maybe this is not an issue for something you're supposed to clean on a weekly basis? 3: Since it's...

    RO Water Remineralization

We have a remineralizing part of our drinking water RO/DI system. Even with that the TDS is still super low. They seem to be mostly for flavor. I’m not sure how much it would actually impact clogging misters or nutrients. I guess it would depend how much it is adding to the water. I wouldn’t...

...You can use whatever size reservoir you want with them, I use 2-5 gallon buckets. You set what time you want the mister to turn on and how long you want it to go. You do have to use distilled or RO water. I’m also curious to find out about a fogger as I may be in the market for one as well.
