New Owner of Chameleon - Wanting to ask for opinion, of what do you think does my Veiled Chameleon Looks healthy?

...or mold build up. It is also wise to disinfect the water bottle too and clean the top part and wipe out the rest. You can use distilled water only to avoid all that if you prefer. Run it at night or early morn on low for a few hours to get humidity up. If you get an auto timer you can set...

Has anyone here had any experience with a machine that distills water? They sell them on amazon

I'm not sure that came out specifically - I just assumed for use in a mister or fogger. I use RO/DI for everything, but like Mark, I have a large unit from reefkeeping days and a 50 gallon storage tank for it. I worry about a lot with the chameleon, but access to water isn't one of them.

    Little black bugs everywhere

So I’m a little confused on the wording for some of this, if u don’t mind explaining some things to me. First would purified water work? Second, who they physically have to be in 2 inches of water, how does that work? And lastly do u think it would survive in a set up like this (the sundew in...

    RO Water

I've been using distilled water for as long as I've had the cham & mister (15+ mo.)—no problems. IDK it for a fact, but I wonder if it doesn't get something from the plants it lands on. 🤷‍♂️ TBH, I'd be more concerned about the chlorine, depending on the amount. I've done the first two...

Question regarding distilled/RO water and misting system. (Distilled not bad for arboreal reptiles?)

...without causing more damage than you’re repairing. So getting sprayed directly in the eyes/mouth everyday with larger droplets of distilled water might not be the best thing for you… I guess I was just thinking the body could move around the stored minerals to where they’re needed(teeth for...

Ill do this tomorrow as the lights went out about an hour ago I’ve ruled out vitamin deficiency for the most part I’ll add an extra dose of repashy calcium plus lod on a few crickets and the roaches will get Arcadia epa to see if that helps just in case it is vitamin a but it may be more of...

Zero water filter... Need feedback from smart people :)

As it turns out, distillers and RO filter systems are pretty much in the same ballpark, cost-wise. Same with RO water and distilled water by the gallon. The few cents you save buying one over the other may be eaten up by mileage. This is why we include distilled water with our grocery trips.

    Sodium & Chloride sky high

I've posted off and on about Simba's ongoing health problems, some of which are not related to each other, some obviously are... We went to our new chameleon vet for a recheck last week for blood work, because he is still not improving as much as we'd like. She prescribed baytril to clear up an...

    Purified or distilled?

I have a 6 month old male Jackson's i have a dripper a fogger and a misting system I've heard to use distilled water so the minerals don't cause build up in the mister and the fogger but do they need the minerals that water provides before distillation process? I have been running distilled in...

    Fish tank UV sterilizers

Thank you all for the good feedback! That’s interesting that it worked well for those. I was just considering it for the safe to drink aspect, definitely don’t expect it to purify the water of other chemicals/metals/etc I used RO/DI(saltwater tanks) and RO(for reptiles/other) as well. I was...

    Cleaning my fogger

I spray the pipes with activated peroxide Lysol brand let it have 2 or more minutes of contact time and rinse thoroughly and let dry. I only use distilled water in my cool mist humidifiers to prevent build up and growth.

Young veiled Cham not eating much anymore.

I just bought the larger T5 HO and I ways use distilled in the dripper and for mistings. I saw my Cham drinking water today off of a leaf and the vet actually said the eyes looked nice and clear and good. Said inside of the mouth looked good too. Never mentioned any dehydration.

    Bioactive Enclosure Project 24x24x48

I can't speak for the bioactive components, but IMO, $400 is too low by more than half ($1000+ to properly establish a chameleon without being bioactive.) IMO, Mistking water cannot be reused without re-processing, which means re-distilling or re-RO filtering.

    Little black bugs everywhere

Ahhh mantis ooths, another good one that I forgot about. Drosera capensis would be the species to get and IME they’re very easy provided the right care. Mine even spread like grass and kept flowering. Don’t keep them in the enclosure, they need to sit in a tray of water(think a bog). Their...
