    Substrates and Chippings

You’re so sweet. 🤗 I mixed together organic garden soil, play sand, coco coir, orchid bark, chopped up sphagnum moss, horticultural charcoal all in varied amounts. For my girls I made sure to use more sand and less coco coir & moss so their tunnels would have more integrity. Of course, the one...

    No shed yet??

The barium was to lubricate his stomach, I assumed that’s what would be best, so they gave him some. His poops have been normal since, and his rates are even batter, so I am glad about that. I am not sure of the type of mold, but it was most likely because we used grapevine and the hygrometer...

4 month update on my Cham and enclosure

4 months ago I posted this thread asking for help and wow did you guys help 😊, https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/is-this-set-up-right-for-a-yemen-chameleon.192635/ As you’ll see or remember from that thread I basically had no idea how to house a chameleon and not much knowledge on...

    New baby panther

Hi there, and welcome! Like @GrannyK said, you are not an idiot! We all start somewhere and learn from there; as long as you want to give your cham their best life possible and are always willing to learn and improve, that’s what matters! There’s a decent amount of info coming below, and I know...

    Bioactive Substrate

How does my substrate look?? I used two bags for organic potting soil. Half bag of reptibark, 1 8qt bag of spag moss, a very generous part of sand. I’m thinking about getting another bag of soil and adding it. What do you guys think?

    Various Bioactive Questions

It looks like you have a lot of moss stuffed between the bioactive bag and the screen. I’ve heard that this isn’t good as it can grow bacteria. Also live feeders may get down into that and die and cause problems as well as if your Cham goes chasing a cricket or something in the moss he may...

    not eating still :/

I got him from a pet store (i know, it wasn’t the best choice, but it wasn’t a chain store, it was a local reptile shop with reputable husbandry advice and such) his supplements (attached below) are Zoomed’s Reptivite reptile vitamins with D3. I have to mix it with a bit of calcium when i count...

    DragonStrand Bioactive

I have a bioactive dragon strand hybrid cage. Hi simply added a plant bag at the bottom. It filled up most of the bottom with only the corners opened. In the back corners I filled with Sphagnum moss. The front corners I left open to encourage air flow. I decided against spray foam Bc it does...

If not that one, probably one similar. There was a thread over the summer about these bags... I'm not finding the thread I'm looking for, but I found this one that discusses them (in part). https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/more-bioactive-questions.175511/...

    Bioactive questions

Hello everyone so I’ve decided to go bioactive. I’ve decided to completely scrap my current cage (obviously not until a new one is set) and go for the dragon strand hybrid. With that I’m looking to do bioactive. I’ve done research read my threads on here and even watch a trillion YouTube videos...

Then it sounds like you don't have surplus water. It's great that you've got it balanced so well. Apparently not everyone does. surplus water in bioactive enclosure With my pots on the floor, I mist about 7 gal/week, but I only discard 4 gal/month from the bucket.

    Substrate

Yup for the most part that’s why I wouldn’t. He also has done some shady things making him someone I’d prefer not to support. As for the substrate itself, it’s fine and won’t cause any problems.

    Bio active enclousures

Hi and welcome! :) Yes! You can keep any type of chameleon in a bioactive enclosure. You’ll want to use the plants that are safe for veileds and investing in a good plant light will pretty much be necessary. I like the Sansi 70w...

    Took Cricket to the Vet

She is puffing up and getting warmed up which is typical for her at this time of day. Her cage is bioactive and there's a very large deep plant bag at the bottom with terrafirma substrate from the biodude. It holds a tunnel and I made one for her to test the soil.
