    Is my chameleons head ok?

Hi and welcome. I agree that this looks like a thermal burn. With our male veileds, the distance between basking branch and lights can be deceiving because of their tall casque. I’m not sure I understand if you’re using a 100w basking bulb or basking temp is 100. Either would be too much...

    Temperature

Higher wattage sometimes is more of a risk. If you can add another fixture with same wattage or lower. It will bring up the amb temps. I avoid higher wattage mostly cause of thermo burns. An if there cold an dark in color. They will bask alot an get close as probably.

My first veiled Chameleon! He is a translucent <3

Yes, I noticed the missing spikes right off the bat without reading your post. This is caused by a thermal burn. So you are going to need to watch that area when he sheds and also ensure his basking temps are correct 80-85. They can re burn much easier in areas of a prior thermal burn. He is...

    White spot?

I’m thinking that looks like a thermal burn. It’s a bit of an unusual spot though. I’d like to see some pics of the top of your enclosure, including the lights. What are your basking temps like? Does he walk upside down along the screen top still?

    White spot?

I would avoid all things reddit... if you have questions or are unsure ask here. In this forum we practice and implement the most up to date husbandry. Reddit does not and they delete posts there that challenge the methods they provide. So UVI for a Panther should be a 3 UVI at basking. Yes...

    closed eyes

That is totally normal. They will go dark to absorb heat. Sounds like he is loving it! You can’t have it too close because for some reason chams can’t tell when they are being burned. They will just keep sitting there.

Sick veiled, sleeping all day and wobbly

Cage Type - Your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?): What are the dimensions --- She has a medium sized glass enclosure right now, I know that she needs a bigger one and I'm in the process of that. This is most definitely not an appropriate sized enclosure for a chameleon. The minimum size needed is...

    Issues with Rescued Veiled

reptisun is perfect. We only reccomend that brand and Arcadia. It should be 8-9 inches from the bulb to the basking branch. Do you have the 22 inch one? This will put Felix at the right distance. As far as the fogger, I will not be any help. I do not use one. Where I am located typically stays...

!!getting a chameleon tomorrow, advice please!!

Ok so I’m not familiar with babies but other will chime in I’m sure. You will want to lower basking temp a bit. 85 is max for adults. Babies tend to overheat easier so a few degrees lower would be better. They also like to screen climb. So watch for that, you may need to raise your lights so he...

Veiled with dark spot & issues shedding

his basking branch is about 8in away from the bulb and his temp is 85 in the basking area. As I mentioned he has sticks outside of his cage and sometimes when I let him out he uses them to crawl on top of the cage which gives him access to his light and i’ve found the metal can get quite hot. I...

    A few questions.

So how far do you have the linear uvb? 12 inches would be too far away with a 6% arcadia bulb. You want 8-9 inches from bottom of fixture to the branch with the screen top of the cage in between. This will put her in the correct UVI level. They can not burn themselves with these UVB bulbs. It is...

New person with a new chameleon

I’ve been measuring it with another of the digital therm/hygro combos I have, sitting right at the spot where he basks. It’s about as tall as he is at the moment so I just sit it there for a while and wait to see what it peaks at. I forgot to look for the digital probe thermometer I have, so...

Veiled chameleon has one eye closed

Hello and welcome. Eye issues are tough. The good thing is that it’s only one eye. For whatever reason it may be painful to keep it open. Other reasons could be burn to either eye lid or eyeball, abcess forming behind eye lid. A vet visit is definitely warranted. As for supplement regiment, dust...

5 month old panther cham screen climbing, can anyone give input?

Hi yes I would keep lights raised, but sorry for not making my point clear so a t8 is likely to give off less uv than a t5ho especially with a 5% tube so I would raise it a few inches above not 8 . Or change to your t5ho 5% and lower to around 4 , the chances of thermal burn from a uvb are...

Need help ASAP! Chameleon squeaking and opening mouth

Short and simply what I can see is, you’re going to need to get rid of that compact uvb bulb that comes with the death kit it burns and blinds chameleons theirs plenty of info you can read and photos you can look at online of what those compact uvb bulbs can do to your Cham that close. You need...

    Grim is growing quick

Hi there, and welcome! Everyone’s given you great advice! I just want to add a few more things, if that’s alright: -She needs an appropriate lay bin in her cage if you haven’t added one already (veileds can be sexually mature as little as 4 months old). @MissSkittles ‘ blog she linked above goes...
