New study: Furcifer antimena growth rates, interesting prelim results

This is a really cool case study. You saw more variable growth outside and pretty consistent growth indoors. I think the consistent temp and humidity patterns mirror this consistent growth and could explain this stable pattern What are you doing to maintain temp and humidity day vs night...

    Chameleon eggs

I incubate the eggs the same way that Lynda (kinyonga) does. Put them in a plastic Tupperware shoe box with about 3 inches of moist vermiculite and keep them in a closet where the temps with be around 76 degrees. I punch two tiny holes in the lid. To test for moisture, take a fist full of the...

New Brookesia owner. Please help with ID and any tips and tricks for acclimation

...anything I put in, instead of letting the terrarium provide. It's frustrating I failed hard enough that none of them made it. For the eggs, I will first be more diligent in looking for them and put together a proper cooling incubator. I have all the pieces saved, just waiting until it's needed.

    New hatching panther chameleon dying?

I did take it out of its container was I not supposed to? I put it in another container 😩 it started last night and this morning he was out laying there in the incubation container not moving so I got worried and put him in a different container on a damp paper under UV light. But no difference

    Egg Husbandry Checkup

I followed kinyongas techniques, but added more holes as the humidity was way too high in the container (100%) and I feared them bursting. From what I’ve read on here and chameleon academy, it seems that it’s better to be too dry than too wet, so I decided to err on the side of caution. The...

Are my eggs dead??! Incubation glitch and went to 140F.

I’ve never hatched eggs before, so I’m wishing you all the luck. Maybe wait until it’s obvious if they are ok or not. To quote one of my favorite YouTube’s, “Incubate till there’s no debate” Good luck! Hopefully more will survive and hatch soon!

    Baby Parson’s hatching!

...due to hatch. These will be my last Parson’s eggs and my last eggs in general. It’s going to be really weird not having eggs and having incubators running all the time. I have had eggs constantly for many years. I will still have all my adults and some juveniles. I will also be working with...

New Brookesia owner. Please help with ID and any tips and tricks for acclimation

Not sure how I missed this thread, but well-done getting eggs and hatching them at all although they didn't make it. Probably it was a maternal nutrient issue. I'd guess vitamin A deficiency or offspring not being kept warm enough but I haven't combed through all of this yet. This round be sure...

    Fertile eggs?

You get it wet, squeeze it until it stops dripping and then place it in the incubation container. There are also some more precise mixing strategies where you weigh the substrate and water.

New Brookesia owner. Please help with ID and any tips and tricks for acclimation

Sorry for your losses. It's always tough losing babies. Luckily this year I didn't incur any losses with my pygmies. All 5 Brookesia superciliaris are subadults now. May I ask why you chose perlite to incubate the eggs? While perlite and vermiculite look similar, they act very differently. In...

    Egg laying

You said…”when I bought her she was in a tiny cage with two males”…since we’re not sure of her age, it’s hard to say. Once the eggs are laid we might be able to tell you…so I would plan on incubating them until we see them. You said…”Should I incubate the sand?”…no…sand will dry the eggs out...

    Chameleon eggs splitting.

So the ones that are splitting are in random spots but I did move them to one area so it doesn’t affect the other eggs & Dec 30th is when they hit 6m. & on the lid it’s not moist i poked some holes to let some of the humidity out.

How do I know if she laid eggs?

What’s the temperature inside the container you’re incubating them in. IMHO there should be moisture on the underside of the container’s lid…it’s normal. I’ve never heard of a chameleon laying two different clutches at the same time. What are the eggs laying on in the plastic container?

    New hatching panther chameleon dying?

No so when I woke up he was obv still in the incubation container he was a little bit away from the shell so he was def alive when he came out. No I did not help it out the egg. Are my eggs dead??! Incubation glitch and went to 140F.

Ya it’s going to be hard to tell I was asking bc I found it slightly odd some of them hatched but give it time it sucks to say but that’s truly the only answer is if they mold over or not. Also I’d recommend doing the “natural or “closet” method of incubation

Orange eyed and yellow lipped parsons are being bred in the works as we speak and will be hatched in 2024 then there’s about 18 months of incubation. Kaizen chameleons is answering emails and taking reservations. 1500 for one or 2800 for a pair.
