    Silkworms

The extra male moths I feed off as well-and dead ones go into pitcher plants, so nothing goes to waste. Strangely enough I like making the chow, I like the earthy smell!

    Good morning photos

The nepenthes plant is very happy and throwing new pitchers, the chameleon on the other hand rather grump to see the camera in his jungle.

Update on my green mittened piglet and her new enclosure 🌿

Nepenthes (pitcher plant) is perfect because its needs correspond with the humidity and misting needs of Veiled and Panther chameleons - and they will take care of stray bugs. You just want smaller pitchers until your girl is bigger. Sundew is great for capturing bugs but needs a lot more water...

    Exotic plants safe??

...light and then you would have to remove them every winter for a couple months in the fridge. So the experience will be labor intensive. Pitcher plants (Nepenthes) do great if you get the right varieties. Nepenthes alta, "ventrata", or "Miranda" are good middle of the road that do not need the...

Happy birthday! I like money trees and nepenthes (pitcher plants). You can get them at Lowe's, Home Depot, or a plant nursery. Sometimes online!

Anyone have an idea where I can find post a thread for selling a bioactive starter culture? Both my bioactive enclosure and the backup cleanup crew enclosure have gotten large enough populations that I can start selling off excess. Also have some pitcher plant cuttings I've managed to get to root.

    Update on Chandler Bing

...around to doing some reorganizing and trimming on Chandler's enclosure. It's safe to say that he is one of my pride and joys. And the pitcher plants are thriving because any crickets he doesn't eat end up in the pitcher plants. Never thought my first attempt at a bioactive enclosure would go...

First time taking WC veiled outside since homing him

...every other day, and sometimes a superworm or two as a snack. He keeps eating the pothos and biting on the schefflera. He also bit the pitcher plant the other day. Crickets are gut-loaded with mustard greens, collard greens, kale. Dubias are fed bananas, apple, and sweet potato...

    Pitcher Plant in Veiled Enclosure

@jamest0o0 has had them in his enclosures, and I have too (but I quickly killed it). The pitchers are actually edible! The foliage and pitchers are a little thicker than other plants, so probably not something they’d eat much of if they tried. A year old veiled should be ok. It would...

    Rain maker water

...bottled water in there if need be. and while I don't need to use the r/o water in the dripper it often times drips into my nepenthes pitcher plant which doesn't like tap or enriched water or soil so I'm all in on the R/o I use the r/o water from a local store for my own purposes and get...

    Lipstick Plant

I saw a video where they also eat the pitchers (somewhere?). They stuff them and boil them or steam them.

    Pitcher Plant in Veiled Enclosure

They are on the approved list, nepenthes is Latin name. My veiled tried to eat but they are too tough. He did hit inside a pitcher once so my advice is only put in dead bugs and he will ignore them. They need to drain well and as mentioned lots of light but NOT heat.

    Pitcher Plant in Veiled Enclosure

Regarding why would they flick into a pitcher-- that's what I thought until I put a BSF in one and Dino spied it swimming.

On a good note, Chandler's cage is doing well, and the pitcher plants have their first fully formed pitchers!

    Lipstick Plant

Tropical pitcher plant. An interesting plant. The leaf and root are used as medicine. Its good for urinary tract infections, constipiation, bowel disorders and is even a cure for small pox.
