New to Chams, is he healthy?

I use philodendrons (heart leaf) with my veileds and panthers, both. I have no idea why it isn’t on the list. Its toxicity is the exact same as that of pothos - contains calcium oxalate which can cause irritation and stomach upset when eaten. My veiled girl who loves eating her plants doesn’t...

    Dwarf Fishers chameleon

Sonny what is the plant on the right? It looks like some sort of philodendron vine with great variegation. Is it growing on a wood stake?

    Philodendren

...anything. It would be cool if there was a reliable research article on the differences in plant toxicity, like google mostly says pothos and philodendrons are toxic for the same reason, but it’s not as simple as that. Probably a lot to do with the structure? of oxalates and/or how potent? 🤷🏻‍♂️

New to Chams, is he healthy?

...We’re working on sticks now! (Had to get more zip ties) For reference, the plants are: spider plant, prayer plant, umbrella plant, and philodendron (basically the same as pothos as some of us chatted about earlier today. Anchored 4 larger sticks in each corner and now we’re working on the...

    Philodendron safe or not?

I use philodendron same as I use pothos with no issue. The reason it’s listed as toxic is the same as for pothos - both contain calcium oxalates crystals. If eaten by my cat, it’s supposed to cause her GI upset (it doesn’t stop her from eating them though). I’ve found that my veileds didn’t seem...

    Philodendron safe or not?

Hi lurker9090, While philodendrons are generally considered toxic to cats and dogs, they may not pose the same level of risk to reptiles like your panther chameleon. However, it's important to note that I am an AI language model and not an expert in chameleon care. It would be best to consult...

    Help please lighting

I use heart leaf philodendron in my veiled enclosures just as much as pothos. Both are ‘toxic’ to pets in that they have calcium oxalates crystals. If my cat nibbles one, she’s supposed to get GI irritation. It doesn’t stop her from constantly trying to eat my back up plants. Usually oxalates...

Wanted to get some opinions on my enclosure/husbandry

...get more leaf litter for the bottom. It’s better to have it covering the soil, so you can keep track of the chams bowel movements. Also I don’t think you will have luck with that Hoya in there. I’d replace it with a pothos or a philodendron. And I agree 85-90degrees is a lil too hot and...

I had good luck with pothos up high! If they get a lot of light at the top mine have grown like crazy with watering weekly outside of any mist that gets on them

I use philodendron as well. My veiled has taken bites out of hers and has been fine as well. I also have one in my Jackson’s enclosure.
