    Hawk moth, too big?

I only hatched 1 out. And when I saw how freaking large it was I never did it again. :hilarious: I kept mine in a butterfly cage thing and gave it nectar and a plant because I am a sucker and could not hurt it. It was beautiful when its wings fully dried out and it could fly.

    Baby Cham with eye problems

When you say ‘tank’ and measure size in gallons, I need to let you know that as baby recovers, he’ll be needing something like a ReptiBreeze XL enclosure. Aquarium tanks are not at all good to use for chameleons. There isn’t enough ventilation, which can cause respiratory infection. I understand...

MDB or Gout - Includes Xrays

What is your distance from the bottom of the T5 fixture to the branches below? Is the top panel of the cage standard aluminum screen? I would see if they can get a fecal to test it and run blood work... If he is trying to climb at all then keep him in the hospital bin. It will be safer than...

I up graded his hospital bin to a 16”x16”x30” butterfly cage on its side, and I think he is appreciating the extra space!!! He climbed up on this little perch all on his own 😍 Thank you so much everyone for taking time and interest in this little guy

Taking Jackson’s outside for some natural sun

I don’t have a cage to take outside, just a butterfly cage I can put a small tree in to take him outside. The butterfly cage is white. I’d like to take him out for an hour or so.

    Fire season

Butterfly cages make good temporary cages with a plant tucked in. Mesh laundry baskets will also work. If you just have to cut and run then put him in a card board box with a branch wedged in it. Seal it up to keep him in and find a temporary cage when you are safe.

Comment by 'Chamamamma' in 'Hornworm Moth set up and care'

Mine moths did not bother with feeding even when I tried to spy on them at night (they are night active, so it is pretty normal for them not to move during the day at all). But still they laid eggs and those hatched in about 6 days. Larvae died in my experience once after eating organic store...

    Deadly Chameleon Myth series

I am sorry you take all the effort now again to address my comminications and NOTHING about the subject. this is inefficient also, you write such a long essay and want me to answer it thoroughly - i had even to divide it into two as it was too big to post, this is also not efficient if you...

    Affordable bioactive baby caging?

So I’m going to start getting baby cages but they are expensive I can’t really go with the butterfly net cages because well I live in northern indiana where it gets extremely dry in the summer and winter with the ac and heater screen is out of the question for hatchlings with my female carpet...

    Enrichment Ideas?

Just out of curiosity, are those butterflies safe for panther chams? I’d be interested to see if my boy would like them

    Enrichment Ideas?

Those are all good ideas! I’d have a hard time feeding mantids and butterflies since I’ve kept both and see them as pets but I’ll see if I can find grasshoppers.

    A few questions about breeding

That said I have seen some cool setups for raising babies individually with small butterfly mesh cages on a rack with lighting. You would still have the expense of plants, feeders, UV bulbs misting and supplements.

Panther night time lows outdoor cage

...from a 2x4x4 to a 2x2x4 and it has taken longer than I wanted. I have the panther, 1 year old, outside in a 18x18x24 hanging butterfly cage. Tonight the temps are supposed to to drop to the low 50s. Will this be an issue? Should I go bring the cage inside and risk waking him up in the...

Camiezone babies from Homer and Big Girl

Pardon my crappy memory - are you talking about the hornworms? I just have mine set on some lightly moistened coco coir and sitting in their enclosure, which is from a chameleon kit. Be careful not to over-moisten them. It takes about a month or so for them to hatch, if they are going to. If you...
