Comment by 'giesle' in media 'Mantis Dinner'

@MikeT307 No doubt there are plenty who don't like my backgrounds, but you are the first that have told me so. Most people like this sky background, being that it doesn't look all that "artificial". If you don't like this one then you more than likely don't like any of my work, because this...

    Roses

Since everybody is getting so excited and won't stop commenting on these pics, I decided to shoot another similar one today with an orange flower and backdrop. Enjoy.;)

    Roses

I have a bunch of hornworms and am scrambling for ideas for photos while they are the right size. I shot one 2 days ago and the other yesterday. Now I am stuck and can't think of something new and different. It was basically the same setup in both pictures. I never touched the camera or the...

    Husbandry issues/questions.

I am a brand new chameleon owner who has only previously owned a snake and lots of fish of varying difficulty. I have researched lots but would hate for my care to be sub-par and I'm admittedly very stressed about doing damage. Lurking this forum has already helped me a massive amount, which...

    Dexter's Tongue Catches Fire!!

Thanks everyone. The background is a black photography backdrop. I guess it would be technically possible as long as you had at least one external flash to place below and behind him. I also had a diffused flash in front bouncing off the ceiling to give a little fill light in the front.

    Meet Kendrick

Hello Everyone! I purchased my first chameleon on Monday after a year long venture of research and purchasing all of the supplies. I bought a beautiful male Veiled Chameleon and named him Kendrick. I purchased him from a pet store where he was hatched at and he's about 9 months old and a...

    RocketMan has a new home

My girlfriend and I worked countless hours thinking and building a new enclosure for RocketMan. So we bought a chicken coupe and modified the heck out of it. Cause there was no way she would let me an eye sore in the living room. You can see the extra framing and backdrop that was added. I...

    New DIY Cage

If you use live plants, in larger sized pots, you can sink branches into the soil or strap them to the outside of the pot. If the live plants are small treess, you can attach branches to the trunk. Hope that gives you some ideas. Leo You can also make a backdrop and leave holes in it to set...

    Need critique and advice desperately!

Chams are very different from ALL reptiles no matter how much experience you have. Do a little bit of research on what chams need such as the level of humidity, plants that are safe, etc. Chams need to have AT LEAST 50% humidity but try to get it around 70-80% You can get hibiscus, ficus trees...

Planter box bottom Vs potted plants. New vivarium question

Waterfalls can build up bacteria but with filtered water, you may not have that issue. If you know it's clean and your cham drinks out of it, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks. I had a large sheet of white photography backdrop paper in the background.

Baby Veiled eyeing the food but not eating

Hi, it will soon be 5 days that I got a baby veiled and I am concerned that he might not be eating well. I feed him from a cup and count the crickets and mealworms I put in. He may have eaten a few crickets over these days (unless they've escaped), but generally he roams around the feeding cup...

Planter box bottom Vs potted plants. New vivarium question

The problem with waterfalls isn't the calcium buildup, its the risk that bits of leaves and bark keep dropping into it, that your cham's fecal matter gets into it, or that loose feeders drown in the basin. All these things will contaminate the water very quickly, so unless you are dedicated to...

Planter box bottom Vs potted plants. New vivarium question

Each side unbolts so i can individually wrap each side. It also will be great to get actual bird cage perch holders on the sides to hold different branches or vines! sorry for the bad pictures. The bark is what im thinking of using as parts of the background. and you can see the bottom of the...

    My cham eating ice cream

So this is pretty good calcium, right?;) I cloned out the tiny mantis he was eating. Also, the cone actually would stand on its own...at least when it was empty...didn't try with ice cream in it, but of course I added some hot glue to the hole it was sitting in to make it sturdy. Had a white...
