Madagascar Trip Hunt for the Green Giant

Well tomorrow is the start of another epic Madagascar adventure. After the insane 27+ hours of travel to get there from Southern California we then board another plane and travel to Maroansetra in the Northeast of Madagascar. From there we take a boat ride to get to our destination, Masoala...

    Some Random pictures.

A few random pictures from today. Excuse the hands, I’m a workin man. I hope to be posting some cool pictures on my FB and Instagram when I can in the next few weeks. We will be in Madagascar looking for Parson’s chameleon’s at several different locations. Our main goal is to find the Green...

Madagascar under threat of hurricane category five

Madagascar get hit by cyclone on average about 5 times a year. They had some big ones hit last year. I’m glad it’s hitting this week and not next week when we are going there.

    F. willsii

I was going to ask 🙂 He looked familiar. Glad he’s doing his thing. I miss those chameleons already.

    Experiences Keeping Juvenile Parson’s?

Interesting idea for a set up. Hey what’s the matter with Spanish moss?

Replace those O-Rings (a lesson learned)

You do not need to have the bulkhead below the water line. You can go through the top of your bucket. The pump is easily capable of sucking the water up out of the bucket as long as it is primed ( has water in the pump already) that way you will avoid a leak.

Replace those O-Rings (a lesson learned)

Is your supply to the pump below the waterline and fed though that bulkhead?

    Cloned (propagated) schefflera arboricola

They are definitely great plants for chameleons. I have about 100 of these in my enclosures. I planted one in my yard and it grew 10’ during the summer.

    New Wilbanks homeostatic incubators

The test will be reliably. If you are cooling and the ambient temps are high, can the incubator hold the internal set temperature. Dvm makes heating and cooling incubators from converted wine coolers and they have proved unreliable from what I have heard. I’ve been using heating and cooling...

    Parsons incubation

Search these forums for the user I suggested and you will find the incubation parameters you need. They’ve been posted on here for years. It’s pretty much what all the successful people have used. I started there and made changes as I went along. My hatch rate for viable eggs is pretty much 100%...

    Parsons incubation

No worries. I’ve been hatching parsons for 8 years. Sixteen months is what to shoot for imo. There have been clutches hatched at 14 months and many hatched from 16 months on. I had an egg go 26 months once before hatching but I think incubation times longer than 16 months are due to not having...

    The Lorax 2023

The Lorax! I rousted him out of his winter mode for a quick photo shoot. This chameleon (Calumma parsonii cristifer) is one of my all time favorites out of all the chameleons I’ve had. I picked him out of a clutch as a tiny baby and its been awesome to see him grow and change. He’s 4 year...

    Parsons incubation

I helped write that article. Bion was learning at that time and I have assisted them. Unfortunately their Parson’s project is no more from what I was told.

    Parsons incubation

That’s way too long and a poor hatch rate. If you do a search on this forum a member (Garrett) posted his incubation schedule and temperatures. I would suggest using that. Eggs should hatch at around 16 months if done right.

How long was your incubation and what percent of eggs hatched?

    A few baby pictures.

It’s supposed to be a Yellow Giant Parsons. I say "supposed to ” because there’s no telling what they will end up looking like. The sire of that clutch is my more green bodied YG named Mr Anderson. The Dam is a female that was imported and sold as a YG. Unfortunately exporters and importers can...
