While I appreciate the time you took to respond to my request, I'm allowed to be disappointed that I followed online advice instead of trusting my gut.
I understand that you all are not (I'm assuming) veterinarians and your advice is based on personal experience. I'm finding chameleon care to...
@nightanole @Madmango
☹️ I took her to the vet yesterday. She did have a respiratory infection and inflammation in her lungs. I now have to give her injections for the next three weeks. 🤕 I think I'm going to trust Chameleon Academy more than this forum. 😓
Thank you for saying she's a dork! 😆 It made me smile and that's the best thing when I'm stressed about my cham.
I have two humidity/temperature gauges. This one is lower in the cage, about the level where she sleeps. This is info from the last four days.
This is the gauge near her basking...
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - I'm a new reptile keeper. Kiwi is 6-7 months? Female Veiled. I've had her since December 20, 2020.
Handling - She had a round of antibiotics where I had to handle her everyday. I hadn't handled her in a month or so. I moved her to a new cage a week ago, but that...
Kiwi seems to be enjoying her new cage! 😀 She was a little aggressive to me two days ago. I thought maybe she loves it so much she's defending her new space? Or maybe the change is still stressful? She's found a new sleeping spot on her schefflera.
It also seems she's been doing some...
Thanks! I was surprised by how much extra space I had! I thought the new plants were huge. I was sure I'd fill in more space with the plants I had in old cage! I'm hoping the monstera gets the huge leaves it's known for.
Thank you! It was a huge project. I'm so thankful for all your advice! I...
Thank you! ❤️
Right now they're just for lighting. I've seen where people have used it for fogging. That will be a project for another day. I need a break! 😅 Thanks for the link! 😊
After months of reading all I could, asking questions, bothering everyone I know talking about chameleons, stress, lots of $$$ (thanks to stimulus checks!), driving around for hours for branches, furniture, and plants, planning, many Amazon purchases, learning how to use power tools, rearranging...

She finished her meds on Feb 28. I think I've figured out the problem. I recently switched her to every other day feeding. It's the days that I don't feed her that she's low in her cage and ready for bed early. Since I don't know exactly how old she is, I was being cautious so I don't overfeed...
No, I turn it off when I go to bed, usually around 10pm. I can get a blackout curtain. Is it possible that the tiny red lights on the power strips are bothering her too?
Yes, she's been more active during the morning, basking, eating. Because she's in my living room, I cut off the main lights and dim one lamp. So not total darkness. I've also added the mister and fogger in the past week. Perhaps she's not used to it yet? I can try total darkness tonight.
Wow.... 😳
I'm feeling overwhelmed with:
1 veiled chameleon
1 cat
1 Molly
2 danios
I have no idea how you all do this!
I gotta ask... Do you all have children? My animals are my babies for now, and they take up most of my free time.
