Oh wow, okay. I assume that's why panthers are so popular. :)
Thanks for the info! This is partly my way of "knowing for sure" if my chameleon is a male, or what to expect to prove that he is male. I'm pretty sure he is thus far. I'm guessing my guy is going to be a green/turquoise kinda guy...
From reading around on here, some symptoms are lethargy, weak grip, and mishapen body parts (bowed legs, crooked casque). I think some of these are later symptoms, but usually a chameleon starts acting unsual when "something" is wrong.
I'm curious because mine is still pretty much green at 4 months old. Although when I zoomed in on some photos I am noticing some turquise colors coming through. :D
lol, yes, I WILL have fun waiting. :p
Thanks!
So higher-wattage bulbs are better with larger cages, I assume. That's what it sounds like. I didn't know wattage affected heat as well as brightness. I've definitely seen the difference in brightness. O_o That's good to learn.
Thanks a lot for the help. I elevated the light last...
Wow, really? This is the best news I've heard all day! :D I'm so glad I don't have to buy another expensive bulb! What wattage would be best for the standard bulb? (if I set it on top of the enclosure)
Thank you so much EVERYONE for your help!! (and visual aids, lol)
Updates and photos
After wrestling with my internet connection and traveling to school to get these uploaded I'm finally able to post!!
Here's the enclosure currently. It's about 12"x9"x24". Pretty small for now, but then again so is Ridley.
Feeding cup is on the door (fed in the...
Sorry for all these replies, lol.
So I'm trying to figure out a new lighting scheme. I have a leftover one of these ( http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog/reptile-supplies/heat-bulbs-night-heat-bulbs-ceramic-bulbs/-/zoo-med-100-watt-halogen-heat-bulb/ ) from my beardie, and I'm wondering if...
He has fake plants and vines in the cage, too. I'll take a picture today.
Will the linear florescent light NOT overpower his currently small enclosure? If not, awesome, but I know the problem right now is that he apparently "can't get away" from UVB.
Oh, I wish I could just up and buy one...
No fecal yet, but I am still waiting for him to poop. Going to give him a warm soak today to see if I can induce it.
No substrate, just a paper grocery bag lining the bottom.
Would elevating the light by several inches help the problem? I'm hoping to solve this as cheeply as possible, though if I have to I'll buy new lighting I will. (college student) I was hoping to wait till after graduation to upgrade his lighting and enclosure since I graduate this Spring.
Yeah, I did mean Reptisun. I had a feeling I got the name wrong!
I know "terranium plant" sounds awful... My friend has some pothos and she told me she'd grow one/give me a piece of hers. Once I get a new live plant I'll take the other one out. (I wish I knew what the plant was called... I...
For the record, Ridley is still eating well but has yet to poop. I'm going to buy a gram scale today (if I can find one) and see how his weight is doing.
He's still pretty much acting the same, though.
Though his color is better the black marks still fade in and out. I'll post more pics...

Does that mean these are burns, then? D:
I currently am using a 100w Zoo Med Powersun bulb that sits on the cage mesh. I'm worried it might be too close, maybe? There's nothing within 4 inches at the top of the cage.
So I've been continuing to feed Ridley to get his weight back up, and I've been trying to get him to poop lately by soaking him in warm water and hand-watering him.
These pictures are from two days ago. I'm worried the black spots on his casque and shoulders might be burns. D: What do...
