OK, sorry for the alliteration - it was unintentional.
I haven't seen this discussed elsewhere, but there appears to be a cricket crisis here in Southern California - a disease that has wiped out entire breeding colonies. I've heard Rainbow and one other company are on the verge of going...
The original series on BBC was narrated by David Attenborough; I would MUCH prefer to hear his narration.
Also, I found some interesting tidbits from Wikipedia
As noted elsewhere, Karma laid her first clutch the other night. We have the eggs in moist vermiculite in an incubator (though I am already considering upgrading it to one that cools in anticipation of the warm summer months).
I searched the forums (as I too get tired of seeing the same...
Our Rep store sells them by age (as that is how his source provides them). My backup store does the same thing.
4-week crickets are about 1/2" (maybe a little larger). The rule of thumb I shoot for is the length of the cricket should be no larger than the width of the Cham's mouth.
We only have one episode of Eureka left on the TiVo ("What Goes Around, Comes Around") - is that the one?
I don't remember seeing an episode with a Cham.
26 eggs. All very solid, bright white shells (which I assume is good - I know it is with my Beardies). Nesting comfortably in vermiculite in a 75-76 degree incubator.
Mom is doing great. She was anxious to eat this morning and there were no crickets in her enclosure this evening when I got...
Setting aside preferences of brand for a moment, what about 5.0 vs. 10.0? I have been using (Reptisun) 10.0 for some time, first for my dragons and now for my chams, as I had read that the effective distance of the 5.0 was about 12" whereas the 10.0 was more (I don't remember the exact number...
I had an unexpected dinner last night and did not get home until late, so I left them in the lay box (with a basking lamp shining in). I will be moving them to the incubator tonight when I get home.
Thanks for asking :)
I am sure others may disagree, but I am of the belief that since in the wild, Reps are not fed on a set schedule, it is not critical to follow a fixed schedule in captivity.
Poor girl still had a clump of dirt on her head this morning. I sprayed her real good before I left, but didn't want to try to clean it off. If it is still there tonight, I will clean her up.
