carpet looks much better under your care. Just a bit of advice, i'd stay away from feeding mealworms and move to softer food items. The shells on the mealies are very hard to digest. It's like trying to digest finger nails.

I've used them for various herps. They're a nice looking plant in an enclosure. The only negative that I can think of is sometimes fruit flies or other small insects that you are feeding will get trapped in the little pools of water in the plant and die.
