I have a custom wooden enclosure but my wood was pressure treated wood but then also coated 3 times with a polyurethane (if done air out for a week at least, very toxic), and I have a mister misting 5 times a day for a minute. My cage is very large with 3 heat lamps so evaporation occurres...
Honestly looks like skin right before it sheds to me. Defiantly not a professional at all but mine has had that slight "faint" shade to it but was gone after a shed....
So the books I bought from Barnes n Noble say "Veiled" on it as well..... So.... Either some pretty reputable professionals on reptiles are wrong, or you are. Regardless veil, veiled, I don't think it matters.
Also, to say that if you don't know the correct name you don't know the needs is...
No no no.... The flukers cubes I use just to keep my crickets alive. I always throw in some of the recommended gut loading foods like kale, oranges, carrots, ext that's been suggested on this site. I just started using the cubes because my crickets were dying by the dozen. Once I started tossing...
Here is a picture of Ziggy. Honestly wasn't easy so the angle isn't the best, every time he feels the doors start to open he immediately runs for hiding. Unfortunately don't have one of the friendly veileds Ive read about on here.'/ Tell me if it seems like anything is wrong please.
Thanks for the response! Have some calcium without d3 on the way since no local stores carry it. Unfortunately I'm gonna have to do some looking around for the variety of food. Stores here only carry crickets or superworms. Also, how much is to much feeding? Don't want my dude getting fat but...
I have a 7 month old Veiled Chameleon and feed him mainly crickets (medium sized) and super worms (large). He eats approximately 5-10 every day. 10 being for crickets. I gut load the crickets with a calcium block they have in their cage with some cricket food that apparently contains multiple...
Just moved his branch down a couple inches and the temp is showing right at 85-90 now so thanks for the tip! And yea I've read that they're just pissy little fellas so it doesn't bother me. Would just appreciate him to be one of the photogenic guys I see on here lol. This was my first chameleon...
Regarding the lights again he usually is asleep within an hour of daytime lights turning off and he always seems to be right under one of the two night lights I have set up for him. He seems to choose to be near them so that's why I haven't gotten rid of them even tho it's been recommended to do so.
Thanks for the responses! His temps are a little higher then they should be but if I use anything lower then a 100w bulb the basking areas are way to low so I stuck with the 100w. Doesn't seem to burning and he has PLENTY of areas to go to, to thermoregulate. The night lights aren't ceramic...
Thanks for all the positive feedback! For some reason I can't post more than one picture when making a thread from my phone. Was able to create an album on my profile of all the cage.
