He's 3.5 months. He crushes the crickets with no problem. I am going by the 'space between his eyes' rule. I think he's a bit bigger than normal, as well. When I see pics of other 3 month olds, they look a lot smaller than him. He's an eating MACHINE, though!
This sounds a lot like what happened with my first chameleon. I know firsthand how heartbreaking it is to watch a little baby wither away. It took mine 10 days of starving himself to finally pass away, and I tried everything I knew to save him. He was just too young and got so stressed out from...
Mine refuses to let me see him drink. I just keep a close eye on his urates(white=hydrated), and his eyes(sunken in=dehydrated). I have no idea why he has to be so secretive about it.
He looks wonderful! I just know he loves his spacious new home! He is probably so excited to get to climb now. Good job on rescuing him and giving him a great new home!
If my chameleon can handle full grown crickets with no problem, would it be okay to try to feed full size superworms? The local petstore only has the big ones, and I'm dying to give them a try. Just curious if Kush was ready for them. Thanks!!
Mine gets pretty stressed when I handle him, but it has gotten a lot better in the month that I have had him. The first time I cleaned his cage, We took the plant out with him on it, so we weren't actually handling him. He did really well, as long as we didn't come too close to him while we were...
I posted on the other thread about one I had seen here. I finally found the thread! He is a faly/ambilobe mix and he is just GORGEOUS! If you do make this mix, I will definitely want on the waiting list for one!
Here is the link to the...
The most beautiful chameleon I've ever seen was a pic someone posted on here of their cross. I believe it was an ambilobe/faly. I'm going to have to go look it up. I will post the link if/when I find it. Anyway...he was just STUNNING!
Wow! Looks like he got the presidential suite! :D You can almost see the smile on Monty's face in that last pic! He is such a cutie!
What exactly is that green twisty tie stuff and where would I find it in wal-mart? I have GOT to get some!
Your new little guy is so cute! I love his colors! He looks to have a bit of blue in him. NICE!!
I, personally, don't use substrate. I think it's super easy to just pick up poop as I see it and wipe out the bottom of his cage a couple times a day with a cloth. I like being able to easily...
That is a great idea! Thank you so much for sharing that! My husband keeps a similar care sheet for each of his snakes, and I started one the other day for Kush, but wasn't sure what all I should keep on it. This helps SO MUCH!! :D
That is so sweet! :D She lets you give her kisses?? If my face gets within a foot of Kush, he freaks out and thinks I'm going to eat him or something! haha I am definitely jealous!
I agree! It's so sad. I lost my first cham after only having him 10 days bc he was just too young. I am constantly worrying over the one I have now! Although he seems to be doing very well, I STILL fret over how much he eats and his poop and hydration. Then I see all of these great keepers...
I was just wondering at what age do you usually start feeding less. I have a male veiled, and he's still a baby at 3.5 months, but I have been wondering when I go from giving him as much as he can eat to a certain amount every day or two. Then, when I start giving him a certain amount, how much...
Don't feel bad if he isn't your #1 fan just yet. Mine is still terrified of me and I've had him a month! I have been slowly working with him and handling, but it is a slow process. I didn't touch him for the first 3 weeks(and I wanted to SO bad!)! I know I shouldn't pick him up a lot...
Yes. I hear from a few people, my best friend, in particular! I'll text her cute pics of him and she just thinks I've lost it! Luckily, my husband is just as enamored by our cham as I am, so it's all good there. It's something I just don't think you can understand until you have one...
