I had a similar idea
My buddy raises rare leaf tailed and europlatus geckos. He has a slideout water tray that is attached underneath the enclosure. At the bottom of the enclosure, just above the tray, he as a honeycomb plastic screen that substrate rests upon. Any left over water falls...
I too...
I too have a small pothos plant. It is broken into several fragments but in the same pot. I keep it in the base of the enclosure for now until I upgrade to a bugger enclosure. I too want to hang the pothos to have it drape down throughout the cage when it grow bigger. Another...
Enclosure
Glittergloomgirl What size enclosure are your chams in? I had recently say someone with rope in their enclosures to replicate vines, would you or anyone recommend that?
Beeze
Beeze
I love the design you have made. This is getting me motivated to make my own. I need to have another enclosure ready in about 5 months. My 2 month old veiled is growing and won't like it if he is stuck in is 18x12x24 enclosure. Now are you going to put substrate at the bottom...
gaping
I thought gaping was necessary for any lizard to cool themselves. Is that correct? My veiled does almost every other day. It looks like he is yawning sometimes. I also saw him drink some water by shooting his tongue out at a pool of H2O on a leaf.
Damn
Ya those are some good shots. Im envious. How did you get into macro photography? Why did you choose mantises as a subject? Are those your insects or other peoples?
suggestion
I would limit his movement, that and try to keep him off of the sprained ankle. I do not know if you would increase minerals or vitamins during this type of incident. Maybe someone else can jump in. good luck
drinking
I caught the cham finally shooting out his tongue at a pool of water. I had the humidity off all day. I observed my cham opening his mouth like he was yawning. He wasn't making any noises. After I misted the enclosure he shot his tongue out on a leaf. So it was pretty reassuring...
Welcome
Welcome...I too recently joined this forum and recently adopted a two month or less old male, veiled chameleon. I would recommend Julirs' information and her website link to a great care sheet. I have been reading up on chams there. Also I would be interested in knowing and...
Pothos
I use pothos. Actually it is the only plant I have placed in my cage. Today I want to go look for a schefflera to see if that will go well in my enclosure. I have a 2 month old veiled and is in dire need of some additional plants.
Nice
I like the cage setup. What type of plants are those? I have a small pothos in my cage and hopefully it will grow bigger. As for the vitamins and minerals, I should purchase a calcium supplement without D3? Oh and my bulb that is providing UVB is a coiled 5.0 bulb. Are there round...
I should buy
So I should buy Calcium without D3? and work that into the schedule? I have reduced the amount of humidity I am pumping into the cage down to just in the morning before I leave for work and then at night an hour before I turn the cage off. I will go today and pick up a better...
My temps
During the day 80 - 90s, at night at least 50 - 60s. I live in NH and we are beginning our fall and winter seasons. It gets really cold here at night and really dry. I have to keep up with the humidity levels here during the day, at night, not so much. My humididty falls well below...
Agree
I am fully aware of the numerous care sheets and husbandry books that are available and I have reviewed several of them; however, I joined this forum to obtain that information you are referring about. The real hard facts from people like you who have kept chameleons for years. I...
Supplies
I currently have supplied my cham with one set of vines over a branch and I feel and it has been suggested that I get more plants and branches for him. Where can I get this stuff. I like the branches that you have, where did you get those? Outside or from a supplier?
