    Vet in Crofton MD

Female veiled appears to be (hopefully) temporarily blind. She can't open her eyes and is now showing signs of dehydration. I just replaced the UVB CFL bulb a few days ago and after reading up it seems that could be the cause. Photo ketarine blindness I think (I let my iPhone take over...

    Male Veiled Chameleons

Male Veileds do have a reputation for being not-so-nice, but every chameleon is different. They are extremely cool and have voracious appetites. Very fun to watch and beautiful animals.

    Bug Bomb?

Dude don't bug bomb. I had a terrible fruit fly problem, I just hung up a couple strings of fly tape. I had hundreds on there after the first few days and they were all gone in a week. As you know from fruit fly cultures, if you feed off the adults, the colony dies fairly quickly.

    Free Range Change

I did everything to try and free range my cham on a ficus tree. The walls of the pot were impossibly high, the branches didnt reach outside of the pot much, and the tree was plenty big. Well, she got to the ground repeatedly. Eventually I realized she was jumping from the branch to the ground...

    American roach as feeder

Maybe you stated it already but where are you finding the roaches? I have this vision of you scooping them off of the kitchen floor and popping them into the cage:eek:

    Superworm Addiction

Blue bottle flies. Flies are the best hunger-strike breaker out there. The chams can't resist them buzzing around the cage. My dad's male veiled can take down 20+ in a day.

    1 week old Jackson

My young veiled had a scab on his side. It took a month or so to heal and fall off. I didn't bother with it as I know better than to pick a scab. He doesn't look unhealthy. Keep him on the fruit flies until he can handle pin heads and blue bottles.

    feeding flies

Pop them in the fridge for a half hour. Some say freezer for 30 seconds but its just not as effective and could kill them. I have a container with several hundred blue bottle flies and after some time in the fridge they lose the ability to fly for a few minutes. I just scoop 10 into a deli...

    Senegal Care Guide

The type of person who is giving a chameleon away on Craigslist instead of finding a proper home for it probably isn't the type of guy you want a chameleon from.

    Found a tunnel...

Found a tunnel in the pot of my female Veiled's Hibiscus. I dug it out a bit but didn't find anything. She's only 5-6 months old and isn't very big. She does look a bit skinnier but that could be my imagination. She was exposed to a male from 3-4 months of age in a large cage. I don't want to...

    Grasshoppers

I would also be concerned about parasites. Has anybody bred wild-caught grasshoppers? That'd take care of the parasites

Are fruit flies a good feeder?

Be careful of the "flightless" fruit flies. They eventually develop into adults and can fly quite well. They can also get through even the smallest mesh. I keep them in a deli cup with pantyhose lining the top. Otherwise, it'd be a frenzy when I go to feed my mantises.

    Need reply..mantis question!

I've only ever fed off babies. I'd be nervous feeding off an adult, because depending on the species their spikes can get pretty formidable. I'd hate to see a cham catch one in the eye while the mantis is flailing in the cham's mouth. I feel like a big enough jerk feeding off those cute bugs...

    helppp !!!

My male and female started hard-eyeing each other after about 3 months of age. They were separated within a day or so after that. Get or build another cage ASAP or they will get stressed. Make sure they cant see each other through the cages.

    Outside time and shedding?

We took my dad's veiled outside during a pretty hot day recently while he was shedding. He was only out there 15 minutes and we made sure he had a cool place to climb on (a deck chair in the shade). After about 10 minutes his skin started to losen and it seemed to really accelerate the shedding...

Does your cham enjoy looking out the window?

My cham will try to push against the screen with her nose to get closer to the window. She loves it.
