Yeah, i'm just using 2 full spectrum house bulbs right now and he looks beautiful under them. I couldn't just take petco's word for how to take care of him. I actually bought him because every time we get Chameleons in ( which isn't ofter, thank god!) they sit there for months in a little glass...
it definitely helps. Thanks! My boyfriend doesn't get the cham. thing. i've already started saying " you know when karma out grows this cage, we'll have room for another" But right now my first priority is to get Karma all set up and healthy.
i read the link. i was just trying to figure out why they wouldn't put something on the packaging, ya know? i'm getting a linear and hood on friday (hopefully) i was just looking at the boxes and they say the same thing so i thought i'd ask
ok i checked out that link. i kinda got what its saying. so i'll get the linear tube asap! i wish they would write those studies up so normal people could understand it, though!!:p
I've had a compact repti sun 5.0 UV bulb on my tank and recently removed it and am going to get the tube kind that go in the hood. is one better than the other? the packages say they put out the same UVB % and everything? opinions? thoughts? just wondering
thanks
yeah i'm thinking that if i can get him to eat it then it might jump start his appetite. he seems to be doing a lot better without the compact UV light on there. :) I was looking at them today at petco since i happen to work there and the packages for the tube and compact say they put out the...
he has been eating, though not much. i picked up some waxworms today so i'll try to give one to him in the morning. does it need to be gut loaded and if so how?
i took him in the shower on my hand, but was having to collect water in my other hand to put on him. I was so concerned that i forgot we had any adjustable pressure shower head!! I checked way later that day, and we have a "rain" or mist setting! i felt like a moron!
i didn't mean put him...
his eyes aren't sunken but i haven't seen him drink anything and his poop is mostly yellow with some white. i have a chevy cavalier so i'll put him on the floor then.
i know that he hasn't eaten much in the last couple of days, like he's on a hunger strike or something. we're going to move him...
i think i have a shoe box somewhere. i'm taking him by myself to the vet. so i'm thinking that if i set the shoe-box inside my purse that it won't move much if at all. is it safe to force water into their mouth's? i was thinkin about trying it but don't want to hurt him. He doesn't gape when...
He's had his eyes closed again all afternoon! :( I've got a vet appointment set up for friday morning (it was the only day that i could get there) so we've been misting him for 5 minutes at a time 3 time today, is that right? also, if the tank is supposed to be around 60 degrees at night i can...
thanks, guys! I'm getting rid of the compact and the ceramics ASAP! (Friday since its payday!) Can I put a 50 or 75 watt full spectrum house light on the cage in the mean time? i know it won't provide uvb but will it help his eyes? what if i open the blinds on the window he's by?
i switched out...
my chams in a 65 gallon reptarium and i want to make sure he's eating how do feeder cups work? how do the crickets stay in? and how can i make one?
thanks
do i need to switch the uv bulb even though i'm using it with a dark mesh cage? i've heard that the dark mesh will cut down on the uv that gets through. (i don't have room on top of the cage for a florescent fixture right now.) the tank temp has dropped down to where it should be, i guess. we've...
yeah, i found an exotic vet. i took off one of the ceramic's so the cage is around 70 ambient and right around 80-85 in the basking area. he doesn't appear to be dehydrated, he's eyes aren't sunken, he's not wrinkly, or anything. i just haven't seen him drink anything.
i'm going to get him to...
i was under the impression that i should put him in a cage that he can stay in so that he doesn't have to be moved because that stresses them out! sorry, i'm just confused. every one has an opinion on how things work and i researched for a month every where and went with the common themes, i.e...
thanks! :) the reason the wattage is so high on the ceramics is cuz we don't have an exotic's store here. i'm stuck with petco or petsmart and from what i can find the only carry 50, 100, or 150 watt ceramics. we had just a 50 watt but the cage wasn't getting above 65-70.
he does have the spurs...
