    Goodbye

Oh, dear! But we've seen some pretty spectacular chameleon returns here, even when the weather is not at all helpful. So, do not give up hope. One thing I would do is leave the cage available to him, make sure there's a way to access it easily (pull a branch of a tree down to it or tie a rope...

Looks like another panther chameleon gender thread! Help plz

Hi, Kevin. Welcome to the forums. I'll have to take Al's word on that, but I just wanted to make sure you knew that there is loads of information here on how to care for your beautiful baby. I hope you hang around and share pictures as she grows up.

    Mean and Nasty Crickets!!!

Yes, basically you contain them. I think you need to pull their back legs off (sort of gross, but they don't seem to care at all). Here's a thread with some examples: https://www.chameleonforums.com/feeder-cups-93621/ The brown ones are not nearly as nasty as the black ones. The black ones...

Wisdom teet, how I hate thee.

One of mine was just pulled out by my dentist while he was working on something else. He just said "that needs to come out" stuck a probe under the gum, grabbed the tooth with one of those grippy pully things they have and yanked it out. I didn't get any extra pain killers for it, I didn't get...

    Jacksons lady, birthing dead babies?

Does he maybe mean she dropped infertile slugs? While not overly common, they do sometimes lay infertile slugs. The ones that "bear live" don't do it the same way mammals do. There are eggs that are held internally and then dropped when ready. Sometimes they create infertile eggs just like...

    Mean and Nasty Crickets!!!

There are different types of crickets. If you have the brown crickets, it might not be that bad to miss one or two every so often. If you have the black ones, you really do not want them spending time with your chameleon when he's asleep because they are mean. One solution would be to cup...

how will i know if this person will take care of the chameleon properly?

That sounds like a good plan. Additionally, you might want to make yourself available for follow up questions. Make sure he knows he can call you and that you want regular updates on your baby's progress.

My chameleon has a large purplish bump by his eye help??!!

My first guess is sinus infection. Your boyfriend should contact the person who sold him this chameleon. The animal is going to need medical attention (even if it's something else) and the person who sold it should pay for that.

    Possible Chameleon Burns?

I really suspect that shoulder mark is just a stain from the stuff in the water. Stuck shed is only a concern if it constricts a limb (or tail, you have to consider the tail a limb). Seeing a vet is always the right thing to do.

Wisdom teet, how I hate thee.

I appreciate teets that are wise...I can see how the young would not. Wise teets have fed the young, wise teets have succumbed to gravity. Wise teets are not perky. **edited to add** It really does depend on the "impaction" issue. If they aren't impacted, you shouldn't be in a lot of pain...

    Bamboo?

Bamboo is a pretty common animal food. I've watched pandas eat it for years at the zoo. Humans even eat it. I understand that reptiles are different, but I find it hard to believe that something which is almost the sole source of food for one animal could be that toxic for another to have in...

    weird color changes

As noted, the "50 50 bar" look is often just the result of basking. They pick a side and put that to the sun/light, that side goes dark to better absorb the light. I've seen pictures on here of a chameleon who basked near a screen who had a screen pattern on his skin.

    Possible Chameleon Burns?

He's very pretty. If those are burn marks they aren't severe. The first mark, around the shoulders, in particular looks odd. However, burn isn't the only answer. Do you think your set up makes a burn likely? If so, I suggest you move things so that isn't a problem. Just because I had a...
