Right on I look forward to seeing it! I am always looking for ideas to improve my free range setup. UVB is crucial because my veiled is on his free range tree all the time unless im gone for a couple days, then he is in his cage, so im always looking for add ons improvements. Thank you!
Crashbandit that sounds like an amazing setup. I have mine free ranging on a tall ficus, and I was curious if you use any UVB lighting for that? Or is it just for play time outside the cage? I am wondering because I wanted to do something simililar but I feel I would have an issue keeping him...
He is not able to reach his lights, the only thing he can reach or has access to is his free range ficus tree. The angles are definitely deceiving they are always making me think my lights are too close or too far away haha.
I have left him out for about 2 nights now and he actually just picks a spot to sleep and stays there sleeping until morning. I know its probably a safety issue as well but I really dont think he will risk trying anything at night as far as moving.
when you say cover soil do you mean to prevent...
Finally got it all setup and he seems happy although when I walk by thats a different story...haha veiled owners you know how that goes! Also does anyone elses chameleon not give a crap about anything when they see a hornworm? Oh and it looks like he can climb on a bunch of other plants with...
Thank you so much for the link jacksjill, I found some great ideas.
BClizzi isnt it weird? They love being free range so much its crazy, although not surprising haha. I think im going to give this free range thing a try. I will be away for about 4 days or so but when I get back ill get started...
Hello all, my veiled chameleon named Yemen has been a little unhappy and stressed since I got him 2 weeks ago. (reference my previous post about my cham being able to smell my snake...haha!). So I decided to take him out and put him on this 6 foot ficus that I recently purchased. He just seems...
My chameleon cant see my snake, he sits about 3 to 4 feet above my snake and I have towels over the snakes screened cage so he is visually out of sight.
Thank you so much for the support it means alot! I use both the cup method and free range crickets. He is definitely eating because his fecal...
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species is veiled or (Chamaeleo calyptratus) I believe. He is a male, and not sure how old but he is about 4 to 5 inches from snout to tail end. He has been in my care for about a week (7 days).
Handling - I almost never handle him unless its necessary...
Thank you Angelwolf I wanted to give him the wild experience haha. Ill let him settle in a bit and see how he is then. Jax I appreciate the input ill be patient haha.
I see I will make sure I let temps drop some more at night time. More the 60's range? Ill keep an eye on him and see if he ever returns to a normal color after settling in a bit more. I appreciate your input Carlton I thought something was fishy about that employees response its hard to trust...
Hello all! I just want to start by stating I am new to this forum and I am extremely happy to be aboard and get some questions answered from some seasoned keepers. Anyway I own a 5 foot Colombian Red tailed boa and was wondering if my chameleon is able to smell him? My chameleon is fairly new to...
