Hi there,
not sure if you're still responding to comments posted to this thread, but just in case, here goes:
do you have any recommendations for taming a chameleon you've already mis-handled to some degree? by mishandled, i mean that in the past, a couple of times, i have chased my male...
It may be too late this year, but you might want to consider submitting a FAFSA application for federal financial aid. As long as you are in school, you can get Pell and other grants from the feds every year to pay for tuition and anything else. One problem friends of mine have run into with...
i've had the worst time raising feeder insects in the past (crickets and superworms) but for the last month or so I've been working on hornworms and this morning my first batch of eggs from my first batch of moths finally hatched, i'm so excited!
i basically followed the instructions provided...
Well, I have to say I have not tried as many food types as you with my veiled but I also have found that he is extremely reluctant to try anything besides his usual crickets and super worms. I have tried hornworms, wax worms, wax moths, silk worms, and dubia roaches and he never gave them the...
my male veiled does the same thing, he picks up his foot and then rocks forward and back before putting it down. even when he's really going fast along a straight branch this is how he moves. it used to worry me too, but i know he's getting all his vitamins. I wonder sometimes if it has to do...
you could try making the feeding cup a semi permanent cage fixture and then she would eventually get used to it, i keep a plastic cup with holes in the edges twistie-tied to some of the perching sticks for feeding worms, and i can just unfasten it every few days to clean it. if you have to put a...
I'm a relative newbie when it comes to chameleons, i've only had mine since september, he's an 8 month old veiled and the way you describe Yuki sounds exactly like Creature on a normal day. any time i put my hand near him he hisses and tries to bite me, and he has drawn blood several times...
I use herptivite, it's kind of expensive but one little pot lasts forever, especially if you take a little bit out and put it in a baggy to shake-dust the crickets. one baggy with like a fourth of a teaspoon of dust is good for several months.
It's definitely a tree frog, depending on where you are located its genus might be Hyla or Pseudacris or something else entirely. You could feed it fruit flies, house flies and small crickets and keep it in terrarium with moist coconut substrate and a water dish to swim about in.
well, i've only built one cage for my first chameleon which i acquired back in september, so i admit, i am kind of a noob. that being said, the cage is working out really well, so i feel fairly confident sharing my design. I had a bunch of two by fours laying around so i used those to make the...
Here is a picture of Creature after he escaped under the desk and I had to coerce him off his perch on some cords. It's the best picture i've gotten of him to date and marks the only instance when i've been able to get him onto my hand without being bitten or having him try to bail completely...
have found my ball python on the top shelf of the closet, between books on the bookcase and in the bathtub. my leopard gecko is an escape artist and will spend the night wandering all over the house, appearing in the morning in the bedroom or hiding in rolls of wrapping paper in the closet. my...
thanks guys for your advice, I have been avoiding working with him because I thought the stress would be likely to make him eat even less. Knowing this food fussiness may be a normal behavioral stage associated with age is super comforting. I will definitely try leaving the doors open with...
Hi folks,
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - veiled, male, 6 to 7 months, in my care since September 2012
Handling - tried handling once after a few weeks to settle in, got bitten, now do not handle at all
Feeding - I began feeding him crickets and super worms, crickets on rapashy insect...
it's definitely a millipede. millipedes are never venomous like centipedes are, so even if was alive in your cage it probably wouldn't be a problem. my understanding is they eat mostly vegetation, my friend kept millipedes for a while and fed hers a lot of broccoli.
