    Rango is a MESS!

He's a sub-adult Cham, almost 14" long. Most of the skin has come off in BIG patches and he has even rubbed the small scales off his eye turrets so far. He is still rubbing away and scratching at the smaller stuff. I'll let him do his thing as I don't see any need to help him in any way...

    Rango is a MESS!

This morning when the lights came on, Rango looked like any other Ambanja. He was under his basking ilght as usual starting the day off with a little "sun". The unusual part was that he wasn't hungry and didn't run to the hand misting bottle to get his morning drink...kind of odd I thought...

    Watch thse sandblasted grapevines

I've had my inside enclosure set up for a month now and purchased a large EXPENSIVE sandblasted grapevine for a basking spot. This morning, I noticed a dark brown pile of small powder like substance on 2 of my ivy leaves directly below one of the basking branches. Looks like tremite poop...

    Misting water temperature MAX ???

After ~ 5 hours, the temperature in the rubbermaid container is now onlly 75 degrees. That IS NOT what I expected, but it is surprizingly lower instead. I won't use it until I get the temps in the low to mid 80's. That should be a comfortable and SAFE level. I'll check it again...

    Misting water temperature MAX ???

My MistKing only runs for 2 minute cycles and the enclosure is DRY in between mistings...I don't think bacteria is an issue here. I would also think that a "warmer" mist would also keep the humidity a tad higher as well, at least for a little longer. + I keep the enclosure clean of...

Ok to feed captured fugitive crickets?

We have roaches (occasionally) in our house, here in Florida. My wife is a "RAID" sprayer...always was and always will be (just now, not in the same room as our Cham. When I find an escaped cricket ANYWHERE in the house, it goes away...not back into the cricket house and NOT into the Cham...

    Misting water temperature MAX ???

Fortunately, my MistKing is not set to come on again until tomorrow morning at 10:30AM. That will give me time to take the water temp again several times before ir comes on. I'm hoping it will NOT get as warm as the heating pad, but I have tricks up my sleeve to keep the temps down to a...

    Misting water temperature MAX ???

Rango, our sub adult Ambanja, is doing great, enjoying a life of leisure, eating, drinking, becoming very socialized and also enjoying the Florida weather outside almost daily in a separate enclosure. Inside, we keep our house at a comfortable 72 degrees and with heat bulbs, his enclosure is...

Making great progress with my 2 guys :)

I was also in this situation when we first bought RANGO, our sub-adult Ambanja. Another Ambanja at the store was a lot more friendly and liked to be handled, but didn't have the coloration of Rango. Rango was a little skiddish, puffed and gaped his mouth at first, but STILL, the coloration...

    Favorite Panther Locale?

I'm going th have to go with Ambanja. COLOR was truthfully the deciding factor. I was wanting an established sub-adult Cham as well and just didn't want to order him on-line. I didn't want any surprizes or dissapointments. Local availability at a fantastic Reptile Store, and a very...

    REPTITEMP® Digital Infrared Thermometer ?

I saw one of the little infrared tem sensors when I was first setting up my big enclosure. I figured I'd spend the $24 on it, so I did. I used a oral thermometer as a comparison device and the temps were dead-on. I've even used it to measure the temp of my Cham when he is sleeping! I...

what do you do when the powers out?

Well...if it were me and the temps were dropping, I'd use hand warmers that are sold in the hunting department of most Walmart, Kmart, etc. These are in packets that you crush, creating a chemical reaction. These put out quite a bit of heat, but I'd put them in a cloth, not let them be...

    New Ambanja Baby! eeeee :3

How often you hold your chameleon?

When I first got RANGO, he would blow up and open his mouth in an agressive mood. That was only 1 month ago. He's not a little guy, measuring almost 14" long. Now that I take him outside to his new CONDO by the tiki bar almost daily, he's over the moodiness and actually comes to the front...

    Oliver and his worm

I finally gave up on the hornworms for now. RANGO (sub adult male Ambanja) has absolutely NO INTEREST in them. They are cool looking, I must say! LOVE the color!!!! Gary Tampa, FL

    Misting/Hydration ??

I have a 24 X 14 x 53" custome screen enclosure and use the MistKing starter system. It is set up for misting 4 tinmes a day for 2 minute cycles. If you have good, thick live plant(s), and play with the nozzle-head to hit the center of the enclosure, you really will NOT have a drainage...

    Spike took a tour....

On day 2 of having our new male Ambanja, we went to supper with some friends and came home about 9:00 PM. My wife immediately went to the cage to show our friends our new Cham and immediately exclaimed "OMG...he's GONE" ! We looked all over the enclosure, only to find him curled up buried...

    So Pissed Right Now!

Wykd: Sorry to hear about this. My home was broken into once, many years ago...I know the feeling... In my case, they went through all of the cabinets, opened drawers, etc... To bad you can't train Chams to attack! Gary Tampa, FL
