    *sigh* the evils of superworms

I tried silkies and Rango looks at them a LONG time before taking them. After a few weeks, he simply lost interest in them. Now I have a cup of cacoons left over. Gary Tampa, FL

    *sigh* the evils of superworms

Rango was my pride and joy (and still is...lol) and he would amaze my friends and neighbors, eating crickets from my hand, one after another. I finally caved in and got his some super worms...he devoured them, often impacting him for a day. Now, that's all he will eat from my hand. He...

    Very sad and heartbreaking day...

WOW...real sorry to hear about this. I hope you can figure out what happened. I know that I feel like I'm doing everything I can and yet, when something like this happens, we ALL question what could have caused it. Again, sorry to hear about your loss. Gary Tampa, FL

    Hurricane is coming.

As a Floridian, I was expectinig Isaac was headed to Tampa today and was thinking about all of this in preparation as you are now. It is usually sunny just after a Hurricane goes past. Can you take your Cham outside for the day in your enclosure? You should be having the same temps as we...

Rango has a date this week!

After a couple of months of thinking about this, my 10 month old Ambanjo male, Rango, is finally having his first "affair" this week. His date will be at the place we purchased him, here in Florida. This store specializes in exotic pets and their staff is exceedingly knowledgeable and...

    What system for me?

Although I've only had my MistKing for 2 months, it has performed flawlessly and once, ran dry for a couple of cycles. I only hope the digital timer holds out, as it is inexpensive, compared to the pump itself. I have my water contained in a rubbermaid 3-gallon container, out of sight, and...

    Bottoms for screen cages

You should be able to go to Home Depot and look in their plexiglass/lexan section. Pretty inexpensive and comes in a variety of sizes. Measure, mark, and score several times with a with a razor knife and it will break where you scored it. Comes in different thicknesses and colors also...

    mistking help

I have mine set for 4-2-minute cycles starting @ 10:30 AM and off at 3:30 PM. That gives my enclosure enough time to dry out before Rango heads for his bed. I think the number of cycles and the time of each cycle totally depends on the type of Cham you get and the humidity you maintain...

    Now I understand.....

Since this "hobby" is so addictive, I alrteady have plans to build a large "split" enclosure to house 2 more Chams (what's a little more crickets, supers, silkies, roaches and all the other extras that come with a single Cham. My MistKing will easily handle the "extra load" and it has been a...

What do u guys think of my chams

Very nice photos. What camera/lense are you using? I originally saw the "eye" spot too, but thought it was a reflection of your camera...lol Love the green colors in the 3rd photo! VERY NICE! Gary Tampa, FL

    Fly me to the moon.......

I just hope the storm continues farther West. We'll likely have plenty of rain (like we NEED that, now), but shouldn't get hit too hard. I'll keep on the lookout for you...although you'll be hard to see with all of these NRC people here in Tampa scurrying around. Bring your Cham(s) up and...

    Fly me to the moon.......

Boomerang: I just got back last night from a trip to Denver and today, I'm headed out to get more feeders in the preparation mode as well. I'm in Tampa, and share your concerns about Issac! Even though it's small now and looks like it may be vearing a little more West of us, you know too...

Rango is thriving...but my ivy is dying!

Are there any plant nutrient suppliments that are safe to use for both plants and Chams? I have a large Ivy plant in my 53" tall inside enclosure. It was thick and leafy, but now, the large leaves are falling off every time Rango climbs around. I water the plant ~ 2 times a week and my...

The Diary of a Chameleon Owner

One of my very first "journal entries" reads: "Rango POOPED...it was dark brown with white urates"...and I added a BIG smiley face too! Now that THAT excitement has passed (no pun) there are a lot of "normal day" comments. Gary Tampa, FL

I want to hold my panther

Chams have some strange moods as most all of you know. I've had my 9 month old Ambanja for almost 2 months and handled him rarely for the 1st month. Although he ate from my hand within 30 minutes of coming home, if I tried to hold him, he would puff up and gape his mouth. 3 weeks later...

    crickets all dying.

I live in Tampa and keep my crickets in one of the larger Cricket Keeper plastic containers...the one with the 4 black plastic square tubes. I keep them inside the house actually in my office) and clean the cricket poop out every 2nd day...and have no smell at all. I have 4 small...

    The Chameleon Virus!

OMG...the virus has reached Tampa, FL and I think I have a BAD CASE of it. I am now finally seeing some of these symptoms affecting my wife and a few neighbors that have come into contact with Rango. I just realized that I contracted this virus the day we bought Rango. My wife must have had...

    question about sleeping habits

I thought my Ambanja was simply adjusted to the lights from the Exotic Pet Store where I bought him. Up and basking by 8:00 AM and in his sleeping spot by 5:45 then sound asleep by 6:00 PM. These are the normal store hours. I've had him for 2 months and he still has this same habit. He...

    Fired up!

My ambanja fiores up occasionally when a cricket crawls across his legs. His dulap looks like he's holding an ascar meyer weiner chunk inside. I've never put him in front of a mirror as I don;t want him to get really stressed out, but may try ythis to get a couple of pictures! Gary...
