    Cuban Laurel Thrip?!?! Disgusting!!!

I don't blame you! After dealing with these little pests, I'm a bit hesitant to keep this ficus at all... or bring any new ones into my house. I'm thinking a switch to umbrella tree may be in order.

    Cuban Laurel Thrip?!?! Disgusting!!!

My girlfirend and I just spent and hour and a half tediously combing through and pruning our veiled chameleon's Benjamin Ficus. The reason? I found a cluster of small (roughly flea sized) bugs on one of the leaves. After some impressive Google-fu by my girlfriend we identified the tiny...

    Not seeing any urates???

I ordered them from great lakes and the guy there is very nice, I emailed him and asked if he could make sure that they were on the smaller side so that my little guy would be able to handle them... he was happy to oblige :D

    Not seeing any urates???

Actually as soon as I saw the first dropping with no urates attached, I immediately ordered some hornworms. They will be here today, so I'm going to give that a try this evening. He's never had them before, I hope he likes them. Lol. He's eaten mango in the past... perhaps I'll see if he's...

    Not seeing any urates???

I did look around and couldn't find anything... it was with 3 separate droppings over the last few days. One of them dropped to the floor of the cage without hitting any leaves, and there were no urates to be found

    Working with dehydrated cham

Hey there camimom did you ever figure out a good way to get you cham rehydrated? I'm dealing with a similar issue with my 4 month old veiled... I think he's just mildly dehydrated at the moment... no sunken eyes or anything yet, but I'm trying to prevent it from getting to that point. One of...

    Personification?

I absolutely think most people do, myself included. It's in human nature to do so unfortunately. We care for our Chams as if they are our children and therefore form a love of them that we wish to see reciprocated. Because we are looking for it, it is easy to misinterpret their instinctual...

cricket breeder colony and laying bin... now what?

So, we've decided that a cricket colony is in our best interest. I've read the how-to's on breeding them but still have a couple of questions. I have my main colony in a huge bin... I separated out 25 females and 5 males into a smaller bin for breeding, I put a dish with an inch of moist...

Meal worms, are they good or bad

Wax worms and meal worms are quite different. Wax worms are quite fatty and while most chams seem to love them, they are kind of like junk food. They should only be fed in moderation. Meal worms are not very good feeders. While I've never heard that there is any problem with digesting them...

How Do I Make My Ficus Cham-Safe?

Use a large bucket or tub fill it with water and a mild detergent. Turn the plant upside down and "swish" it around in the water throughly. Take it out and give it a good rinse and then "swish" it again. Then rinse the plant a couple of good times with clean water. Also make sure that you...
