May I ask why you can't get a generator?

Are you expecting a lot of power outages? You can buy uninterrupted power supplies like they use on computers but they really don't last too long after power outage. Normally 2 hours max time for a pc , depend on the lights you might get 3 hours.

Standard, variegated and weeping fig (which also comes in veriegated ) are the three I use with no problems and are considered chameleon safe. Just ensure to wash them and leech the soil before using them. And of course cover the soil with something like hydroton, or river rock.
