It could be impacted. I would fill a bottle with hot water and give it some extended misting sessions and see if you can get it to poop. If not, it needs to go to the vet quickly.
They came back with an offer to swap for a male with them paying shipping, or a generous refund. Both are fair so I will not be pursuing this any further. Jigsaw already has a home so I took the refund. The only way I'd even consider letting her go is to a local, experienced keeper, and that's...
Mine will often fire up in the morning just for the hell of it...I wonder whether she views me as a "potential mate" or a "clear inferior." For the most part I think she's just campaigning to be fed.
Well you especially should know how much and how long I've wanted a cham. It wasn't too hard to become super-attached to this one, especially with her being a picky eater who likes free-range crickets to run on specific vines, and me positioning them each day to her liking. My wife loves this...
Wow, I am NOT happy with this breeder. I had sent an email just explaining that I cared for this cham a lot but it was a huge deal that I didn't get what I wanted because I can probably only have one right now. Their response was that I could send her back and be credited what I paid (ie: the...
Chams aren't that hard to take care of. The tough parts are that they are very expensive, doing the initial setup right takes a lot of effort, and you have to read a LOT at the start because even the best caresheets/articles don't cover every detail. Once you get rolling though, the maintenance...
I wasn't planning on doing otherwise, but now I'm gonna have egg issues that I'll always be stressing about, wondering if she laid them all properly.
And then there is the matter of the name...
It's a tough situation. We really were set on a male and I don't think it's feasible for me to have another cham right now even if it was free due to the money/space involved in building another setup. At the same time I'm quite attached to this chameleon so exchanging it or finding a new home...
I think that my panther which was supposed to be a boy might actually be a girl. Growth/color development is still lagging behind where it's supposed to be by quite a bit. I always was sure he was male because when he fires up, his entire neck/throat turns bright red and he gets yellow on the...
The UVB is a tube like it's supposed to be, and I already took him to the vet who found no parasites and saw no problems with the eye. I'll try to take a vid but he tends to keep it open when there's action so he may not do it with a camera in his cage.
He's been active and eating well but is definitely closing the right eye more than he should. Any more ideas on what the problem could be and what to do for him? I'm at a loss here because moving the light didn't fix it and I still see no signs of it being infected.
No, he pulls the eye in when it's closed, making it flatter. Or did you mean when it's open? He still bulges it out and looks around normally when its open.
I took him to Dr. White today and he couldn't really find any problems. He's fairly certain there are no parasites because I got lucky and...
Can you recommend how many and what size of worms to get? I have no idea how long they'll last and how fast they grow. And should I be getting eggs, pods, worms?
Fred, that is actually who I was thinking about taking him to. Have you ever actually used them? I saw their web page and was planning to call and see if they were experienced with chameleons.
I'm pretty much stuck with pet store feeders for the summer. About 1/3 of what I ordered from ghann's showed up dead and another 1/3 died the next day. It's only gotten much hotter since then.
I wanna give him something other than crickets but I'm not sure where to order from, what size...
