i know chameleons dont like to be handled and can and will be hissy and bitey and i knew what i was getting into when i got mine. however eventually id like to be able to handle him and wondered what are peoples experiences on handling and taming chams.
hes 12 months old male veiled. his...
ive only had him a matter of 5 hours or so when i write this. it already seems a touch perkier to be honest.
if it doesnt straighten out im not concerned im just new to chams and wanted to be sure i didnt need to get him seen to immediatly.
i got my first chameleon today, took it on from someone who doesnt have time to care for it and i suspect he's been neglecting his calcium and diet a bit because his veil is a touch droopy.
he seems otherwise very healthy, good colours, good activity and eating like a trooper. weight seems...
ive done my best to make sure hes coming to me healthy. the current owner has emailed me a tonne of pics of him and his enclosure, feeding etc. he has all the right equiptment and a really nice looking 2x2x4 viv exotic. i know its glass panels but ive already got the mesh doors made to replace...
ever since i was a boy of 11 or 12 when i first started out with reptiles ive wanted a chameleon and at 27 i finally went ahead with it.
my male veiled chameleon is arriving tomorrow with his full setup, im taking him in from someone who doesnt have time to care for him anymore. im really...
that was my worry mostly for his humidity levels.
his tank is wooden viv exotic arboreal setup, the one with the 2 sets of sliding doors, one large and one small at the top. my plan is to replace the bottom ones entirely with mesh for better ventilation but the glass at the top will help...
im getting my veiled cham on monday and i want some advice on misting.
i work 4 days out of 7 a week and am gone from 11am til 11pm for those 4 days. my plan is to mist him first thing when i get up (around 6-7am) and again before i leave the house (about 10.30am) with a dripper running the...
i have a cricket colony going for my leopard geckos and i was planning on using them for my new veiled which is arriving in a week. however i want a more varied diet for my cham and have heard alot about how easy it is to breed dubia roaches.
are dubia roaches ok for chams as replacement for...
my chameleon arrives a week today. im taking him in from someone who can't keep up with his maintenance anymore so is arriving with the complete setup, however the cage is exo terra wooden arboreal viv 2x2x4 with sliding glass front. not ideal from the research ive done. i want to replace one of...
im in the same boat deciding where to put my cham which arrives a week today. i have the space planned in my living room but i have a 4 year old and though hes very well behaved and knows not to go near the reptiles we already have unless i say so or am with him he still jumps around and makes a...
thats encouraging, and useful because my lemon tree is the largest and most climbable of the trees i have. i'll continue to investigate thanks for the responses.
im getting my first chameleon in a week or so and having got my setup sorted out ive been researching and come accross free ranging them which seems like a great thing to do when im in the house. i already have a few small trees in the house a Bay tree, lemon and orange tree which are all big...
definitly no lights at night,
my house is a pretty standard 15 C/60ish F in winter the heating is on all the time so if anything its probably a touch warmer in winter.
i don't think i'll worry but i'll get a ceramic heater just in case of cold spells or something.
cheers
