2 Week Old - Need Help.

Yes, it's a flourescent strip light, like what comes with an aquarium. You can use any aquarium fixture or find them cheap at Walmart ($8, made to be mounted under a cabinet, but could use it however). If you want something that looks a little nicer you can find 24" strip lights made for...

2 Week Old - Need Help.

If my "looking cold" you mean hiding away in a high corner to sleep, then that's normal. He'll be a different color when he sleeps and he'll probably tuck away out of sight, so if that is what looking cold means to you, then I wouldn't worry. Just check your overnight temps. Above 60-65 = no...

2 Week Old - Need Help.

Congrats on the new cham! They're so cute when they're little. Well, there's a couple things that I see that may be causing the problem with his eye, as well as a couple things that could certainly cause future problems. First thing - Petco. Whatever advice you were given there is probably...

Problem keeping humidity levels in cage.

Yep, shower curtain or clear paint tarp (really cheap). Humidifier would probably do wonders, especially if you hooked it directly to the cage like Ekproject mentioned. That's a great idea. Where are you located? I'm in the chicago area, and keeping the humidity up is a big task this time of...

anyone with live plants for sale?

I wouldn't ship plants unless you absolutely have to. Especially ficus, as they tend to drop all their leaves with the slightest change or move. They'll even drop leaves if you move them down the hall! Have you tried Home Depot or Lowes? They usually get in a nice selection of pothos, ficus, etc...

    New Chameleon setup/ curved casque

When I bought my 4 week old sambava from them they told me that a MV bulb would be totally fine him... ? I knew better, thankfully, and he's under a reptisun 5.0. I do use a MV for my free ranged veiled, but that's in addition to a reptisun, and only because he has plenty of space to get away...

    Bent casque... dehydration?

I know he cannot recieve any UVB through the window, I just gave him perches near it so he could look out (which he does daily). Most of the time he spends basking is not in the window but under his MV lamp, and he spends several hours under his reptisun as well. He can get close enough to the...

    Bent casque... dehydration?

Chameleon Info: Your Chameleon - Male veiled, around 10 mo., have had him since June (8 mo.) Handling - 2-3 times a month Feeding - Currently he eats 10-12 crickets a day, waxworms as an occasional treat. As soon as it warms up a little bit (it's currently 0-20*F here) I'll be ordering new...

    New Chameleon setup/ curved casque

Seems from this post that he is taking care of him fine. I agree with Kinyonga that using a different gutloads would be a good idea, rather than fluker's, but many people just don't know better. They use what is sold to them by pet store employees who are supposed to be knowledgable. They don't...

    Open range in closet??

Do you have any pictures of your set up? I'd love to see it. I'm always looking for new ways to build onto my free range. Sounds like you've got some spoiled chams! :D

Pics of Baby Chameleons vs. Grown Chameleons

I agree... it's the excitement of something new. Plus, a young cham is constantly changing as it develops, and a lot of users document that with pictures. New colors seem to show up week by week with a baby. Once a cham is mature, it's kind of "same old, same old". Doesn't mean that adult chams...

    Toes turning black

I have never noticed any retained shed on his toes, tail, or elsewhere. He always sheds completely in a single day. I'm also leaning toward burn, thanks to Carol's suggestion. Is there anything I should do to treat the burn? I feel bad for the little guy :(

Eye issues???? I hope not :(

I've got to be honest... I didn't even know the playoffs were coming. I know the bears play football, and I think the colts are football as well. I know the packers are green and yellow. That, sadly, is the extent of my knowledge when it comes to the sport. I've probably seen 2 or 3 football...

Eye issues???? I hope not :(

I'd bump up the humidity with a humidifier. My panther did this as a baby when the humidity was too low. I asked the guys at LLL (where I got him), and they said to bring up the humidity. My house is really dry during the winter as well, around 30%. I have to mist like crazy to keep it about...

    Toes turning black

I've never had problems putting my basking lamps on the screen before.... not even with this cham when he was using one. My veiled used to hang on the screen right under the lamp on occasion. As much as I'd hate the little guy's toes to be burned, I'd rather it be a burn than something more...

    Toes turning black

You know what... that's a really good possibility. And it would make a lot of sense, since I just moved him into a new cage and put on a new basking lamp last night. He's a cage crawler, likes to climb the walls and top sometimes. I just touched the screen under his lamp and it's hot! He's...

    Toes turning black

Tonight when I came home from work I took out Huxley to see his new colors since his shed today. Noticed some new yellows and blues, but most suprising was the black - on his toes. On two of his feet, left front and back, the tips of his toes are really dark, nearly black. The rest of him was...

    Ling's free range

Thank you! As far as watering and misting, I'm still trying different things. I use a small fountain on top of the bookshelf only to help with humidity, but he doesn't drink from it. Even so, it is scrubbed down regularly. The live plants and even the aquarium also maintain/add humidity. I mist...

How to I convince my mother?

They absolutely WILL survive in your house, they just aren't SUPPOSED to reproduce. These things are nearly impossible to kill - I've tried. They survive through extremely low temperatures, they just go dormant until it warms up. They're extremely resilient. I bought a starter colony but...

    Ling's free range

Haha, tell her it's a study on plant life, for educational purposes! He cup feeds really well, so feeding is easy. The aquarium has 10 cardinal tetras, 6 dwarf neon rainbows, 5 corydoras (3 concolor & 2 julii), 5 ottocinclus, a bristlenose plec, and two juvenile discus (a blue turquoise and...
