Agreed... VERY hot for a cham THAT young... I would take the basking bulb down to a 20watt or 40watt if any AT ALL... If your temps reach 80 in the cage thats more than enough to suffice a baby cham of that age... He is opening his mouth to vent heat and these can easily lead to overheating...
I actually REALLY like this idea... I always get so freaking stressed trying to figure out how to get a feeder cup easily accessible when I redo a cage... I will definitely be giving this a try... To the OP I completely agree with the rest of these posts... Chams are still wild creatures who...
Yet another way we "pamper" and over-stress about these guys lol... As long as you monitor feeding, I did 3 months for both of my guys and they are doing just fine... Remember, these guys aren't born in a cage in the wild... As arboreal creatures they love room, space, height, trees, light, and...
65 at night is perfectly okay for panthers... If your worried, I wouldn't be worried until BELOW 60.. Thats what I'd consider "pretty cool"... After some research on their climate, during June, July, and August their temperatures have the ability to drop into the low 50's (Fahrenheit)... This is...
Overall really healthy, I feel like he very early on had mbd but it has not progressed at all... There is VERY slight warping in his legs.. But he moves great, grips like a beast, and is a very very antsy Cham to get out of his cage.... Colors are great, eats pretty well.... LOVES supers... Idk...
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon – Male BB Ambilobe, almost 7 months, been in my care for 4 months
Handling – Every day, we have worked with him to accept handling
Feeding – Stanley is fed every other day with crickets, dubias, superworms, silks (when I have them), wild feeders like moths...
I myself grow weary of these posts... We can try and try and try but the truth is until they stop selling even crickets, we can't bring them down. We can't stop them from mistreating because it's not just the company its the quality of employee, and quality training they receive. It sucks yes...
At this point I have to ask how much you trust the person that sold him to you... I really can't imagine besides a few things (parasites, heavy fat foods, etc) why the cham would not be eating by now... In that pic, your avatar.. I see no reason why he would not be eating right now unless there...
Hey guys my chams hate dubias so my attempts to start a colony were pretty much a waste... I have IDK how many but it's fewer than 100 but most are adults... If your in the Dallas area I'd love to make a trade... send me a PM or text me if you already have my number :)
Thanks
Monitor his movement and if it is swelling as these could be signs of a break if his bones aren't the strongest... If he seems to be favoring other legs I would say a vet trip would be in order... How they get bruises is the problem, if he fell there could be underlying problems that as a prey...
6-7 months is usually the time their appetite takes a small dive so yea... I started Stan on every other day at 6 months... Just be sure to offer more of a variety
If I'm not mistaken Clint (Stanley's sire) was a WC Ambilobe... I may have to ask that that's actually a really good question haha... As for my other guy Herbie I am not sure... All I know is that both are full to the bone Ambilobe (I was told...) I trust the breeders so I believe it!
He is from Redisland on the forums... His sire Clint was mated with a female from FLChams... There are a few of his brothers here on the forums... Ill see if I can post some of the others... Just waiting until he's a good enough age and maybe we will find him a good ambilobe female to get a...
The debate currently being played out is how much "exactly" is proper levels of D3... It all really has to depend on a few different aspects including "how much REAL sun is your cham getting", "how many feeders are involved", "what is the output currently of your bulb", and a big one is " what...
There is a pet store in a mall nearby, Dallas folk will know it as Town East Mall but they have a pet store that has been sued, closed, moved, and filed against with ASPCA more times than I care to count. They have actually been shut down something stupid like 4 times but somehow keep coming...
I took some pics of Herbie and finally some color is coming through his pissy attitude :) We've been trying everything from hand feeding to stick trick but this little guy just likes biting and hissing a bit too much /: oh well... But his colors are looking AWESOME already... I was thrilled to...
