The interior looks good, do you have live plants? I'd definitely recommend getting a screen enclosure though chameleons do much better with open air flow from all sides. Also I wouldn't hang the wires inside so as he doesn't climb up them and reach the light, or the opposite and climb on it...

I think you guys are right with that it is just a one time issue of something getting in his eye, but I'll be keeping a close eye on him for the next little while in case it comes back, and if so I'll definitely take him to the local herp vet
