I had the same problem with my panther cham...I got him 8 days ago and he didn't eat for a good 5 days..now he's still eating very little.
It can sometimes take them a few days to get used to the enclosure. Don't worry about it, it's normal!
Just be sure to keep him hydrated and give him...
The exoterra enclosures...if they are glass, then no you should not use it. For babies, it is okay. But, as juveniles-adults, they should not be housed in glass and it can be stressful on them. I'd go with something a bit larger, such as an all mesh/aluminum cage that is 2'Wx2'Lx4'T. They...
DIY cages is a site sponsor (check top right corner of page "view our sponsors") They are your cheapest bet.
I use a Reptibreeze, found at most pet shops - they work very well for me also.
Sounds good for the most part..
Few things:
- I wouldn't use a fogger, and instead a mister because the fog will be inhaled by the cham and can eventually do some internal damage.
-Try and use an automatic hydrometer/temp gauge as they are more accurate!
-I use a feeder near the basking...
I brought my chameleon home on Wednesday (a week tomorrow) and he just started to eat a bit.
He hasn't eaten in front of me, but he has pooped a few times - so I'm guessing he's eating something!
He's 3.5 months old and a Nosy Faly panther - it'll be hard to tell because he's in his cooler...
I currently use a 15W household bulb for my basking spot (seems kind of low). I want more light, so I want to use a higher wattage bulb to produce it!
Right now the bulb is sitting on top of the enclosure - are their any tricks or better ways to have the bulb raised from the enclosure?
I...
Here's a pic I snapped today of my mean Nosy Faly!
He's 3.5 months old - sorry for the bad quality!
Every time I go near him, he flares, hisses, and tries to bite me!
I just got him from a breeder on Wednesday, so I'm going to try and tame him and hand-feed him - once he eats some food...
Yes, I usually leave food in a cup and take off for a bit..he usually sees the food but doesn't go for it.
Ive run out of ideas, I just hope he doesnt starve himself to death :(
I've had the same experience with crickets and water - they tend to freeze, and stop moving!
I've tried a different cup, free-ranging, hand-feeding, nothing seems to be working.
I hear ya. I just got my first cham on Wednesday, I did a solid month of research..It's way better to go in prepared!
Give me a minute and I'll link a thread
water crystals are a cricket food, that is sold in most pet stores - they are green cubes (can be different) and are just a water supplement for them.
They make noise when they are older, if you have a small cham, you shouldn't here any chirps for a while. But, when you get larger crickets -...
Give them a lot of space, a lot of hiding spots, ventilation, food, and hydration.
That's what I learned from reading the forums, and many others will tell you the same!
Some cricket keepers on here keep their crickets alive for over a month!
