The first vet (er vet) diagnosed him with advanced mbd, and completely failed to address the issue of the cat scratches/bites. I knew he didn't have advanced mbd, so I took him to an exotics vet I found through this forum. He examined Jake and said his bones feel a little soft, and gave me...
So, Jake doesn't really hate the camera, or anything really (he's seriously the most laid back chameleon ever) but these pictures, taken out of context, would say otherwise :p

I'm scared
Indeed. Our vet advised us to keep him in a shorter enclosure to prevent any fractures our breaks in the event that he falls. How advanced is Monty's mbd? We caught issues before any visible signs showed up, thank God. This second cat situation was unfortunate, but we would have never known that...
My daughter and I spent some time outside this afternoon with Jake and Yoda. Manni (my daughter) seems to have a real knack for photography ;)

I don't have any pictures yet, but I've created a cozy, uvb/uva abundant, clumsy cham proof cage for Jake until he is 100%. Which, by the way, he's making a lot of progress on. I've sequestered him to about the top third of his enclosure, using plastic chicken wire at the bottom as a safety net...
My Jake lost a claw recently, but it's partially due to him roaming all over the screen, and he has a very mild case of mbd. So just to be safe, and because it's easier for him to traverse, I'm planning on lining the cage with plastic chicken wire. It can't hurt, it's duper cheap and you can...
He's doing well. I've been at work all day, so I won't get to see him until later, but he was good this morning. He's not real happy about the calcium that I have to give him twice a day, even though I keep telling him that it's good for him :p
Looking forward to spending some time with him...
So, the light fixture I have my UV fluorescent tube in now isn't reflective. I really want to get a new one, but at the moment, with all of the vet costs and having to buy a new basking bulb, I don't think I can afford it. Would it be too ghetto to line the fixture with aluminum foil? I laugh...
Ceramic heater? Not necessary for a chameleon unless your night time temps drop below 50.
Little man? Your reply is not only unhelpful, but condescending.
Jake's vet visit went great! Dr. Moore was very knowledgeable and took his time examining Jake. He did say that his bones feel a little soft, but it is certainly not advanced mbd. He prescribed antibiotic injections and showed me how to do them. Much easier than a squirmy mouse :p Jake's legs...
nothing. chameleons can become impacted if they substrate. it's really best to just have a bare bottom and have a drainage system to deal with excess water.
I have a 24" repti-glo 10.0 bulb that runs across the top of Jake's enclosure. I keep it a little more towards the front where he likes to hang out (near his basking bulb), but I'm wondering if I don't need an additional light source. Being that his cage is 4 feet tall, it seems very dim at...
