You could put him in a bucket with his plants and vines and put that inside the cage. He will have to expend less energy looking for food.

Looks about as good as it can be to me. You are dealing with animals who make random actions, I look forward to seeing how these evolve. I made something similar out of a juice bottle and duct tape.

I had mine in a 5 gal bucket inside the cage fir the first few days. I set up two feeding stations (one for crickets and roaches and the other for worms) that he figured out quick. Anyhow, here is what I did.
