Congrats Brad, they are adorable - all babies are in my opinion though :)
I wondered how I'd find all the eggs in my 2 cages when the time comes, guess we really don't unless we see the egg laying process.
NICE! Looks good so far :)
I am about to move my chams to another room (much bigger :D ), thanks for the idea. My closet will be useful now :D instead of closing door and blocking with tanks - it'll be a big space for a lucky cham.
If you are wanting a setup for 'tank mates' chameleons are not the choice of animal to have. They are solitary animals. Unless you have an enclosure of leaf chameleons, you can have a few of them in one tank. However, still only the chams, nothing else. The only other time for a cham to have...
I agree, ficus is one of the better plants to use. I have them in all my cages (panthers, veiled, flaps). My veiled and 1 panther boy eat the leaves. I have had no issues using ficus yet.
Very cool little critters :) They are quite shy for sure. I have a friend with a pair, and baby now from them. He keeps them with very moist substrate (higher humidity seem better for them he's noticed). He uses cypress mulch with them.
Here is my totals for last 3 months. 17 chameleon cages, 1 Bearded Dragon Cage, 3 Fish tanks & ceramic heater to heat snake room on cooler days. No AC in this house.
I use a 4ft ReptiSun attached to each shelf for cages below & then 3 heat lamps 25to 40w for cages on particular shelf...
How long has she been in laying bin? Some will dig several tests holes before the settle on the right one. Mine have spent up to 3 days in their bins before laying. Ensure the laying material is moist enough to hold tunnels (but not too wet). I place my laying bins in another room for less...
Variety is the key to an appropriate diet.
I feed hornworms, silkworms, fruitflies, house flies, crickets, occasional freshly shed superworms, and butterworms. I'm sorry I cannot really break it into a percent for you. Crickets & silks would be my staples (fed more days in the week)...
I keep my flap necks the same as veiled for the most part, but the flaps definately drink much more (seems each misting offered they will drink).
Good job on getting to a vet, hopefully not being a reptile vet it was still helpful. Do you see a scratch on the eye?
You've mention a...
I have a male panther that some nights he sleeps on his screen door, all four legs spread out like he's flying. I get a chuckle every time I see that. I often wonder how they don't fall off???
Too cute! But frustrating I'm sure.....maybe, with any luck some time like that and they might accept living together......eventually?? One can hope :)
I have found the halogens to be much hotter heat when using same wattage. I don't have these on my chams, but have used them on my beardies. So to maintain current temps, you'd most likely have to reduce the wattage on the halogen to obtain same temp.
How old is she? Better yet confirmed female for sure? Is she CB or WC?
I have a WC one that was doing that a few days ago, and I placed her in my egg laying bin and she laid 23 eggs.
But...as chambabysitter stated, we need much more info to help you better.
